Just announced ... DOWN 70%

Projects expectations for next 6 months based on order patterns and pricing strength.   Survey says 78% are reports cutting prices and jobs due to weakness.

How can anyone still support this administration.   I never thought I would live to see a president worse than Carter ... but we are again living the nightmare.

How come when the american people did not like Carter and his administration no one cried racism????

It's the economy stupid.   People do not need the government programs in a strong economy with opportunities.  Focus on the economy rather than holding people down and making them feed off the government for survival?

Several of my close friends are small business owners.  They are in survival mode.  Hope has been dashed by expectations of yet to be discovered tax burdens and government regulations.  Hope has been dashed by decreased orders and contracts.  Change has been excruciating.

Those who have reserves (for example, declining equity in real estate) are recalculating the length of time they can stay in business on limited funds.  Any expenditure will be in the form of capital improvement or maintenance and protection of existing employees.  One can only defer first paying one’s employees for so long – until one needs to restock one’s own pantry.  Not one of my friends is expecting to hire this year.

On Monday, I spoke with a senior professional (engineer) out of a firm in Huntsville.  Last year their office had 24 full-time employees.  They now have three.  Some were laid-off outright.  Some were offered various versions of part-time with reduced benefits – and some of those quit.  All employees, top down, took pay cuts.  Why did he come to see me?  You know the answer.

And yet an AP headline today states that a new record US trade deficit is due to more demand for foreign cars, computers and clothing as a result of this rebounding economy.  Do they really think that just because they write it, people assume it's true?  If so, I should put in a new order for a Mercedes Coup and Pravda hand bag.  BTW, who buys foreign computers?

Best think I have heard lately ... which I am sure the dems will not like ... is to eliminate the business income tax all together and replace with an 8% VAT tax. That will incent businesses to grow andcreate foreign investment as well as raise exports since they are not taxed on what they produce. The 8% VAT tax, along with the growth in the economy, jobs, etc will yeild much higher tax revenue for the Feds vs taxing business and individuals more which drives jobs to other countries and increases imports. Obama wants to increase exports, he is doing that by devaluing the US dollar ... do you think if he wanted to create jobs and increase exports he would buy in to eliminating the business tax? I doubt it ... he wants to add a VAT on top of all the other taxes. More government ... more power for government ... that is the only answer. His home state of illinois has decided, rather than cut spending, they are just not going to pay their bills.

Let's face it, there are few reasons for optimism.  For decades the Dems have accused the GOP of being pro-business as if that were a bad thing......we now have a President that is so anti-business that he has to send his tax cheat SecTreas out to proclaim to all the world that despite everything they have done over the last 18 months to destroy business in this country in favor or unions and government that they are in fact, pro business.  Unfortunately for them their actions speak louder than their words and with the decline and eventual extinction of the government media they no longer completely control the message and hence the truth will out.

We have been here before with FDR and only entering and winning a world war saved his Presidency and his legacy despite the incredible damage he did to the fabric of the country.  Obama is not new.  Obama is not unique.  He is just another in a long line of failed big government anti-business statists.  Unlike the worthless one Jimmy Carter or the mean spirited LBJ, he is as Joe Biden put it, clean and articulate who, as Harry Reid put it, can turn on the dialect when he needs to and can read a teleprompter extremely well.  His ability to get elected has as predicted not translated into an ability to be an executive.  They are different skills and he is simply incompetent for the job to which he was elected.  And his ideology and communication skills make him a particularly dangerous and destructive incompetent.....

WW, I think you are referring to Paul Ryan's roadmap.  It is getting more attention today than ever before and for good reason.  It is comprehensive, it is realistic and it can work.  What he has suggested is an 8% consumption tax in place of income taxes.   That would have a stimulative effect like nothing else because businesses will have a huge incentive to reinvest in the growth of their businesses which means more jobs and more tax revenue.  What it will eliminate is the constant struggle to work the numbers to reduce tax liability, even when it may not make sense from the standpoint of job creation.

I have added a link to it below.  Hound, look it over and let us know what you think.  Please don't focus on whether it can be realistically implemented or not but look at whether it makes sense to you.  You have often stated that the GOP has no answers and I have referred you to Ryan's plan but have never heard whether you looked at it in detail.

We all know that the media has a love affair with Obama - why i don't know - but as i was stepping out for lunch I saw CNN on in our lobby (they feel they have to show CNN since we are in Atlanta) and the headlines were -"Republicans block democrats from extending unemployments benefits" ... this is so biased it is not funny. If you switch the channel to Fox they are reporting the correct story - the republicans want a single bill only dealing with extending unemployment benefits and they will support. Instead the democrats are piling the kitchen sink in to a bill on unemployment benefits and the republicans will not support the other spending. Why does the media play this game? To me this says the democrats care less about extending unemployment benefits and more about politics to try and say the republicans are blocking the bill. If the democrats really cared about extending unemployement benefits they would submit a clean bill and get on with life. The democrats spend more time on their spin game and figure out more wasteful spending that has done nothing for the economy. If their programs worked ... they would not even have to be talking about extending unemployment benefits.

The media has one agenda. Sell.  It made sense for them to back Obama during the election and still so as that brings viewers and sell mags, newspapers etc.  That is it in a nutshell.
The Dems power base comes from the large cities.  Their agenda is to keep that by making sure they continue to need Big Government.  All of the policies, programs etc follow that precept.
