Currently I am with T-Mobile but the contract is about to expire. The service works well at home in Ga but is worthless at the lake. We have a place in Blue Creek in the Chucks's - Still Waters area. Anybody with good cell phone coverage around there? I was wondering about Verizon. All answers are appreciated!!!

Verizon is the only one reliable all over the lake.

It's not perfect, but it's the best service available.

I would say 90%+/- coverage of the lake. Been a Verizon customer for life and really cannot say anything bad about them, even use their WIFI card for my laptop at the lake and while not 90% perfect it is pretty darn close.

I had Alltel for years, worked great except in the middle of a bunch of big tall pine trees....aka my house. Got better when new tower was installed toward Alex City, got even better when merged with Verizon. Hard to beat for the places I visit.

I go all over the lake. North, South, East, West, ends and have yet to find a place where I did not get a usable signal. I guess if you get on the banks or against some of the ridge sides it may not work but for any of the open water, they are the best.

I'm straight across the "big water" from Chucks and Verizon works great, both voice and data.

Had AT&T cellular for years w/o much problem. But over the last year, reception in the West end of LM has gotten steadily worse. Might be time for a change.

I've had Verizon for years and never been in a dead area anywhere in the country. While in Alabama, I keep reminding myself to do what a Verizon representative (personal friend as well) told me. Every 30 days hit *228 and follow the instructions. With Verizon leasing more and more towers and buying other companies, this updates your roaming capability. It not only works like that around the lake but anywhere in the country. You'll have up to date coverage and rarely have a dropped call plus IT'S FREE!
I have no affiliation with Verizon, just great coverage. BTW, previosly over the years, I have been with T-Mobile, Nextel and Cingular. Took me a while to get it right.

We have a weekend place just west of you in the Indian Shores area and we get good coverage with Verizon. The signal improved about a year and a half ago when a new tower was added in the Walnut Hill area. We can drive into Auburn with just a small dead zone around the Girl's Ranch.
Verizon is the only telecommunications company that I can say anything good about. I have been a customer for about 15 years and have had several experiences where they exceeded my expectations by taking care of a problem with a dead phone or other issues quickly and professionally and at no additional cost.
I also agree with the previous post about updating your roaming software by dialing *228 periodically.
I travel most of Alabama and Georgia and get good coverage almost everywhere I go. With Verizon's good service, I don't think you can go wrong.

We had Cellular One years ago when we were in the Bama Park area and were roaming at the lake. We changed to Alltel and had great service. Last summer when our Alltel contract was up we switched to Verizon and haven't had any problems. Actually have had better service.
