Well folks, it's all in the history books.....the great pontoon race  of 2010 is over. Several competitors lined up with high expectations and fun was had by all. On the far left, you will notice that a few fiberglass boats were also permitted to compete. BoatsRfun is holding his own as were mckaygmc and the Webmaster (although mckay and webby are not in the picture). To the right of BRF is Summer Place and me, E. McGill (notice that we powerful tri-toon competitors are properly handicapped and able to keep pace going backwards). Next, you see  a pace boat skippered by Ms. Carole and then the mighty Rude Evin is center stage and running a strong race....it's only 90 HP, but hey,  it's an E-tech! To the right of Rude is Mav and his "Dr. Phil" support group......... what can I say, Mav  ran a great race even with mismatched toons, a wore out Yammi, and 164 ounces of Lake Martin Lemonade (we did let him forgo the "driving backwards" handicap). As you can see, it was an awesome finish!

For those questioning the validity of this race, please send verification requests to NCII who recorded the event. It may not look like much is going on, but the video below was recorded  at high speed over a 4 hour period. As for a winner, you will have to be the judge. Run it real slow and give us your vote......it seems to be a photo finish. I gotta admit, I think Rude may have taken the checkered flag.

Great race!!!! and glad to know you could take them going backwards. That sure was a lot of gas for such a neck and neck race.

Is it just me, or does the race, for some reason, resemble a HOT AIR balloon race?

You forgot to mention that Mav insisted that I handicap my little 90 hp e-tech with a 30 lb river anchor! We had great time.........always great to put names with faces...............glad LNG didn't make it cause I think there was a poem to be had there somewhere yesterday. Gotta couple ideas myself though.................

It was a close race, but I have to agree Rude won by a "bumper" or is that a fender....lol...great time for sure...

The results of the race were as follows: Rude - Won hands down. Rude Friend a forum lurker with the initials DW came in second the and rest of the field was as follows: - MAV - Ulysses - Summer Place - BoatsRFun - McKayGMC - NC II - Jim Dandy - Webmaster Now we had twp participates that talked big they were John C and Cat, but both were no shows and will not longer be allowed to participate in the annual Great Race do to this years disqualification. Then there was Rooster and 4LakeLivin that talked a big game, but once they saw the competition they decided they could not keep up with the above crowd and went elsewhere with their tale between their legs. So I guess anyone that wants to participate in next years Great Race better go ahead and mark their calendars for July 25 of 2011.

a Block Party, in a cool neighborhood, where everybody is having a good time. Ang hurting nobody.
What do you do? Open the toon gates and circulate from one to the other?
Looks fun, maybe next year.
Mack

You got it Mack. Tie up toon gate to toon gate and just mingled and told lies. Think great time had by all. Was nice to see some folks I had not seen all summer, actually most I had not seen all summer and some I had never met before. So as you said sort of like a block party but on the water.
