Subject:	Misperceptions about OCarter

1. He is a Muslim:  Yes, one in 5 Americans think he is a Muslim, including 1 in 10 Dems.  Yes 2 in 5 Americans are unsure.  No, on Sundays he doesn't go to Church but instead plays golf.  Yes, he spent 20 years not paying attention to the anti-American ranting of Jeremiah Wright (sorry, I just can't call him a Rev).  Yes, he was born a Muslim and raised in his early formative years as a Muslim.  Yes, he jumped into the fray and said we needed a mosque near Ground Zero.  Yes, he has spent more time embracing our Muslim enemies and taking sides against our Christian and Jewish allies.  Yes he bows to Saudi Arabian dictators.  Yes he says the U.S. is not a Christian nation but also a Muslim nation.  But none of these are to blame for this misperception, it is all because of the internet.
2. He takes too many vacations:  Yes he is going on vacation for the 8th time this year so far.  Yes, he has taken 22 vacations since taking office in January 2009.  Yes, that doesn't include the vacations Michelle has taken with the kids.  But none of these are to blame for the misperception, it was caused by distortions from the right.  And by the way, just about every week since he took office close to half a million Americans are given long vacations by their employers....albeit unpaid.
3. Obama is feckless when it comes to the economy:  Yes he is repeating all the mistakes of FDR that turned a world-wide depression into our Great Depression.  Yes he is at war with business causing all sorts of uncertainty.  Yes he spent $872 billion to prop up state and local government and unions instead of promoting private sector job growth.  But none of these are to blame for the misperception, it is Fox News fault.
4. Obama is a socialist:  Yes, under his administration he has taken over auto makers, the financial industry, health care, etc.  Yes while Europe retreats from their socialistic government programs OCarter, Reid and Pelosi drive the U.S. in the opposite direction.  Yes OCarter has been quoted as saying he wants to "share the wealth" which is code for redistribution.  But none of these are to blame for this misperception, it is Glenn Beck's fault.

I really need some quiet time to get my act together.  Over the past two years my eyes and ears have been deceiving me.  My small business friends have been lying to me.  My retirement portfolio needs fertilizing.  I have lost touch with reality. 

And worst of all… d@mn me… this is really all my fault.   I voted for that scurrilous Bush guy.  Twice. 

Maybe I need counseling.
