Glad I'm not that young.  Life is good, and will be better when we get the rest of those imbecilic liberals out of our face and we can restore sanity in government.

We'll see if it is.  Unfortunately, I suspect it will be more the same -- just in a different color.

When you look at the internals of the poll it is no wonder baby boomers, of which I am ashamed to admit I am one, have such a negative view of the world right now.  The societal damage they fomented in the 60's when they rebelled against natural law and common sense is now coming home to roost.  Illegitimacy, rampant consumerism, secularism, divorce, living together, abortion, contraception, the destruction of the family, reliance on government instead of self reliance, ad nauseum.  The baby boomer generation was spoiled and is self centered beyond belief.

One of the striking points is baby boomers actually thinking the standard of living of their parents was better than today.  Amazing lack of recollection of what our parent's lives were really like. Not sure if it is some sort of memory fabrication to justify their own angst or what.  If you objectively look at what our parents experienced (Depression, WWII, etc.) and what was considered the standard of living for a middle class family you would see it is comparable to the working poor today (one car, maybe on TV, rarely ate out at restaurants, size of a typical home, availability of appliances that save time and effort and so on).  We are so much better off today than our parents were but for some reason baby boomers have a different view on that.

As for me, while I think the country is headed in the wrong direction with Obama/Reid/Pelosi I am very optimistic about our future.  And there is no comparison between the lives of our parents and us, we have had it easy and are living the good life.  Even the working poor are much better off today than they were a generation ago, and if you doubt me I can point to numerous studies that document this fact based on life expectancy, consumption of goods and services, home size, calorie consumption, etc.

about the material goods anyway.  But, in our parents generation, most women stayed at home and actually raised their children.  One article I read said that our parents generation was definitely more civic oriented and socialized more within their communities.  While we defnitely have more stuff, there is a lack of a certain amount of "elegance" in our lives, before we started being mass merchandized.  People were politer.

I started feeling depressed well before the Obama/Pelosi/Reid.  I wish I had your optimism that things are going to get better, but I don't think so.
