How can a Party go to Washington and begin reducing the Democrats deficit spending when they can't manage their own finances? The Washington Times reports the "unreleased official budget of the RNC reveals that the Republican Party's national governing body and premier fundraising apparatus begins the 2011-12 presidential election cycle more than $20 million in the hole." The budget "was approved by RNC Chairman Michael S. Steele's Budget Committee," and it "also reveals that the RNC will enter the 2012 presidential election year at least $10 million in arrears."

If they went in the hole throwing out the scurrilous Democrat spendthrift bums I thinks they were danmed smart and should be congratulated for having the foresight to do so.

Can we assume from your question that you consider deficit spending a bad thing? Or maybe its just not enough debt to gain the respect of a Democrat?

I totally agree the federal deficit is too high. Deficit spending can be used to try and pull an economy out of a recession. But, Congress went too far. I also feel Bush should have proposed a surtax to pay for the 2 wars. And then, Obama should have proposed one. The two wars are the first that we have fought without a tax to pay for it. Now let's see what the new house can do. The Republicans appear to be quilty of preparing to do the same thing they accused Obama of doing. Rather than attack the problem of the economy, they are going to attack Obamacare. It will be a waste of effort as Obama will veto it. They will spend valuable time debating Obamacare rather than addressing the economy. You wanna watch the deficit??????? http://www.usdebtclock.org/

And how much of our economy is tied to health care?

Hey little boy you started this thread with a question.  Why can't comrade ask one in return?

You started the line of thought in your post - I would like to hear the Democratic line as to why repealing Obamacare would not benefit the economy. You can speak in generalities, just concentrate on what you are trying to say.

The RNC is 10 to 20 million in debt and the Deocratic Dynasty, more commonly known as Chicago, is 13 Billion,(see Magor's post below) in debt. Wonder who will get their finances in order first? In addition, how will they do it. Oh..... let's see.... my guess is, the RNC will do it with "Voluntary" contributions. Chicago, on the other hand, will recover with Government confiscation tactics... more commonly known as taxation of you and me. And, my best wishes to California.

Taxpaying citizens of states with balanced budget laws… fiscally responsible states… will find themselves paying, through federal taxes, for the unwarranted largess of those states whose governments were fiscally irresponsible.  Illinois is unable to stop their own failure.  Californian will also require bailout.  Maybe… just maybe… Michigan and New Jersey can empower themselves to solve their own insolvency.  So goes the Union.

We the citizens of Alabama are in that position.  If the "goesintas" to state Government are not enough to cover the "goesoutas", the goesoutas are reduced to match the goesintas.  painful, but responsible.  I'd much rather buy a few boxes of tissue for my second grade teacher daughter-in-law to use in her classroom than be taxed twice that to pay some bureocrat to buy them for her.

It is called responsible governing, although Alabama has had and continues to have significant challenges with responsible governing in other ways.  At least for matching the goesintas and goesoutas they got it right.

Illinois students just got laptops provided from stimulus funds.  Do you suppose your Alabama children or grandchildren will get laptops?  Who pays for those Illinois laptops?

Oh… wait!  It’s the Illinois pension fund which is unfunded.

Hmmm I have to buy tissue so my D-I-L's kids can wipe their noses and Illinois kids get laptops....surely made in the US so their purchase would stimulate our economy....and the IL pension is unfunded....I certainly am getting a fuzzy picture here.  Maybe Goofey can help me see the sagacity of the situation.

While Illinois used some of their stimulus money to buy laptops, what did Alabama use their educational stimulus money for? Well, the biggest recipient of Alabama's federal stimulus dollars for education isn't a school system or college. It's the state prison system. An analysis by the Press-Register in Mobile revealed that the state Department of Corrections has received $118 million of Alabama's $1.1 billion in federal stimulus funds for education since 2009. Spend it on laptops to educate grade school children or spend it on prisoners. As the old Fram commercial said...pay me now or pay me later!

The Republican plan is rather light on details but has all the buzz words. I can't see how any American can dislike the approach. Can they deliver a lower cost plan that covers most Americans and covers pre exisiting conditions while maintaining adequate coverage? It shall be interesting to see the details. It is one thing to promise in broad terms and another to actually deliver. I, for one, wish them well in delivering the plan. "This resolution directs House committees to produce legislation replacing the “job-killing” Obama approach. It also sets goals for this new bill to meet. It’s an ambitious list, starting with “foster economic growth and private sector job creation,” continuing with “lower health care premiums” and “increase the number of insured Americans,” and ends with “do not accelerate the insolvency of entitlement programs or increase the tax burden on Americans.”

And I had a person who is very highly placed in the Alabama judicial system tell me personally that educating prisoners and giving them the tools to succeed on the outside without resorting to crime is one if the most effective ways to reduce the recidivism rate.  Maybe Alabama erred in not giving more to the prison system.

And laptop computers are a big part of the reason that America is falling so far behind the rest of the world.  The computer should be used as a tool, not a crutch, and grade school is way too early to be giving them one.

Interesting that they would link Obamacare to "job-killing," (and I would assume its impact on the economy); and their proposal to "foster economic growth and private sector job creation" involves the manipulation of the health care system.
So why, again, do you think that repealing Obamacare is not a reasonable approach in trying to improve the economic crisis?
Are all of those GOP guys (and most of the American public) delusional, ill-informed, or have some other evil conspiracy they are trying to dupe the rest of us with?
I like asking you questions - you always have great answers, and you are so patient with those of us beneath you.

Do you really think that is true?  That grade school children shouldn't have laptops?  I need to think about that one.
I have no idea about prisons, other than what I have watched on "Lock up" and if that's really how prison is, I don't think laptops are going to make much difference to their futures.

I don't think that repeal of Obamacare is going to make much of a difference in the economy in the short term.  It may have some impact in the longer term.  That the GOP is deciding to focus on it rather than jobs or significant spending reductions, just proves to me that they are as out of touch as the Democrats.  I don't think changes to healthcare, most of which don't go into effect until 2014 are the biggest issues on anyone's mind.  This is pure Washington politics.  God help us.

Sure glad you finally got your answer. Too bad you leave the impression that can't think for yourself. You must be an Obama supporter who needs to depend on others to support your lazy do nothing habit. Google it next time and save time. You can do it, I know you can. You seem like a good boy who just needs direction.

Sorry you didn't know the answer.

I didn't say they were giving laptops to prisoners...but that they were giving prisoners the tools (real skills) they need to survive as "normal" people.  And I still maintain that grade schoolers need the three r's a he!! of a lot more than they need a toy.

Was it really that obvious to everyone but you that he already knew the answer and that it was a rhetorical question?  Gimme a break and go back to kindergarten.

Okay, I misunderstood.  I generally support giving prisoners skills that they can use when they get out.  So many of them have never had any direction in life.

I agree that students need the basics in grade school.  I don't have any contact with children, but I'm led to believe that there are some great skill building programs out there for kids.  I certainly hope that they are teaching the fundamental concepts behind what the computer can do.
