Congratulations Auburn nation on winning this years Bowl Championship Series, BCS game in a last play field goal beating Oregon 22-19! I imagine it will afford many words of good will through your winter season until the lake rises. Happy Times ML I'll get my feet wet this summer! TC Geno

Great game! One question though, what was up with that field?/ The conditions were worse than any field I have seen. Doesn't a major bowl game deserve better conditions than that. Who was responsible for that field, heads should roll.

definitely played a part in the game. Both teams had many plays spoiled by the footing and cleat changes didn't seem to help.
War Eagle anyway!!!

I saw on TV that they were laying new sod over the entire field just a few days ago. It couldn't have been rooted in that short of time. The game would have been very different and Auburn would have had an additional touchdown. Just glad they won!

I thought the grass was disturbed more than normal but didn't think much about it. That field is unique in that they transport it outside for maintenance. They also have to frequently change it from college to NFL often as both use the field. Here is a time-lapse of the setup:

Thanks for the explanation.  Couldn't figure that one out.

I have to say that with all the hype Cam Newton gets, that little guy Dyer was just amazing last night.  I wish Auburn had ensured their win a little sooner than they did, but it was great!!  War Eagle!!

It is my understanding that the grass was wet due to the high humidity inside the stadium. For some reason they did not open the dome which they usually due during Cardinals' games

My comments (not specifically to you, toonfisher) are that both teams played on the same field, not in a driving rain, not in a snowstorm, not in a sauna and not in a deep-freeze.  Well prepared teams adjust and adapt to field conditions - in this case longer spikes or metal vs plastic vs rubber.  Much ado about nothing.

I would tend to agree except for the fact that one of the reasons why that stadium was selected is because it is supposed to be a first class facility.  Field conditions and the environment should have been perfect for the game.  That is the whole point.  If we wanted them to adapt then it should have been held in open stadium up north.

Certainly can agree there.  May not have played well but at least it surely did look good!!

Have a great evening.
