Television media still doing all they can to bolster the prez. Do you think Jeremiah Wright actually had an impact on this very "christian" speech? Or was it just a good speech writer who knows how to Google Bibilical aphorisms?
The ACLU will probably demand a retraction, and Eric Holder will bring the full force of the US legal system to bear - maybe not.

According to reports, the President wrote the speech himself.  It was a good speech.  Why can't you give him that?

He is a wonderful speaker, an idiot savante of oratory - that is what got him elected, and why he is still so dangerous.

I thought it was a very good speech regardless of who wrote it and, y'all probably know I am definately not an "O" supporter. I was a little perplexed by the Native American prayer with the waving feather and all but, overall, a nice event. My only criticism would be that at times, I thought I was at a University of Arizona pep rally rather than an event to honor the dead and wounded but, that's probably just a "me" problem.

I thought the actual words and teh solemnity of the president was very appropriate. I agree with the comment above that at times the cheering etc. seemed a little inappropriate. However, I was struck by the box these political leaders, especially Hoder and crew, put themselves in. I often ask myself why can't a school teacher say a prayer in a school classroom, why can't a school principal say a prayer before a football game, etc, ...when the president, and the long line of political leaders, can hold a religious service as part of their official capacity in a state school facility? ...hey, I'm just asking!

No, it wasn't just you.  I thought the cheering and whistling was totally inappropriate, considering the reason for the event.

I thought he hit the exact right note on the speech, especially given the left and government media's reprehensible attempt to blame everyone they detest with absolutely no basis in reality.  He should be commended for doing so and I really look forward to him walking the talk in the future.

Having said that, pretty much everything else about the event was weird or inappropriate.  It seemed more of a pep rally and political event and I suspect most of that was due to the venue.  College students are notoriously insensitive to the setting and I think they were overcome by their emotions and acted inappropriately at best.  I also thought it was weird how he was surrounded by members of his administration.  Finally, the placement of t-shirts with a political theme was tacky at best but probably just in bad taste.

All in all I am glad he took the tact he took and wish they had been more dignified in the setting.

Unforturately, I think this is how people act now.  They no longer have any social clues about what is appropriate to the occasion.  None of them probably turned off their cell phones either, unless they were confiscated at the door.  It's like those horrible "floral"/teddy bear memorials that now seem to dominate the landscape every time there is a tragedy.

It's a shame they didn't pick a more solemn venue, but I have no idea what size other facilities are available in Tucson.  Maybe they wanted to make sure that anyone that wanted to go, could go.

Hound- couldn't agree more on the "floral"/ teddy bear thing. Where did that come from?

I don't know, but I wish they would pass legislation to make it stop.... (smile)  Not really about the legislation, but I do wish people would stop.
