Has anybody heard anything on the variance from the Corp. of Engineers.  I don't understand why APCO is continuing to release so much water from the lake -- we are already less than 479.5 with no rainfall in sight.

I'm very concerned about 2011 being a repeat of 2007.

Yep. Water going down on LM. But, I crossed the Alabama River bridge outside Prattville recently, and it is Way down also.
No rain at this time of year equals low lake and river levels regardless of what our wish might be. The 483 Variance might have delayed the drawdown some, but, ultimately if it does not rain, the water goes down. Natural cycle of weather.
Who knows, next year we might be begging APC to open the floodgates and flood Montgomery and Selma, and get this water out of my yard.

Mack:

I agree in part but we need to deal with the here and now.  They should be retaining as much as possible; just go look at the releases on the APCO site.   It just doesn't seem prudent to be releasing so much at this time.
