Making plans with some buddies to go to a few Spring Training games in the Tampa area, and wake up the old Austin Healey from it's hibernation. Top is still down, so if I can borrow my grandson maybe take him for a short spin. AND............plan for some lake days coming up!

Thought I heard a lot of hammering over there.  Good luck with the project. When I get a sea doo in the water I will come check it out.  Until then, I am not sure I could paddle the jon boat that far.

Down the road from you it looks like they have removed the trees from the island across from Veazy's.  They put in a hugte sea wall but looks like the trees could have stayed, but I guess they will be building side by side.

John C.  Will the island look like the other area of Water's Edge?

Just walked in the door after returning from NYC. Going to take a nap, then get out the sour dough starter and make some burger buns.

It is indeed,  we had our XJS out with the top down today, and it was wonderful.  Tomorrow if the weather will cooperate we hope for the TR6

What a wonderful day on the Lake.

I love the old Healey's. What year is yours and can you keep a muffler on it :-)

All work and no play....

Slow going but making progress....had to jack up one corner of the existing cabin because it had settled and didn't meet up right with the new addition which we KNOW is level...:>).

Lakeplumber is helping me plan the plumbing...addition will have a bath/laundry facility and we don't want the shower gurgling when we flush...he has been a great help.

Hope to have it dried in after a few more weekends' work.  Stop by when you get your sled in and you can witness one of the few truly quaint and rustic places left on the lake.

All work and no play might make Jack a dull boy. But bills have to be paid, along with taxes, gas, electric,food.....

Once you hear that Healey sound, it just gets in your head and you can't forget it! I started out my love affair with British cars with a 1959 MGA back in 1970, and it was a fun car, but always wanted a Big Healey! Mine is a 1963 BJ7 3000..........the first year with roll up windows.............and yes there is a problem keeping the muffler on it 'cause there is only a 3 1/2 inch clearance, and I'm running the largest tires you can put on it. Any time the car must be put on a rack for some work or get near a speed bump or go over some rr tracks I have to pay  close attention. It's hard to forget the time a shop put it on a rack and when the guy backed it off the muffler and tailpipe assembly was ripped off! But it's a fun car. You should get you one and let's start an annual cruise around the lake hot spots. Rumor has it that Cat would get up to speed on the British cars for maintenance purposes.............just saying .......he already works on tillers you know.............

Sounds like you have a couple of classic cars.............are you a member of any British car clubs? We may have to talk Feb into getting his Rolls Royce out of hibernation, fire it up, dust it off and take a spring drive before long. What year models are your cars?

I may have to class y'all up a bit with some German roadster engineering.... LOL.

But I have to admit, I wouldn't mind getting a hold on an old TR-6, MGB, or Austin.....

Yes, we belong to both the British Motoring Club of Montgomery, and and Birmingham British Motoring Club.  They are great clubs with lots of activities.

British cars do get under your skin.  We have several, plus a Jaguar kit car, and enjoy each of them, even when they act like they are all  LUCAS parts.

URL: It was a good weekend. Grandkids love playing on the beach. Not quite as much fun if the lake were full, but their little imaginations go I. D

don't worry, they are trying to leave as many trees as possible.  There was a lot of junk, old construction debris, and dilapidated homes out there that they had to clear out.  Most of the work being done is to create that seawall.  That island portion has been eroding for decades.

Keep 'em straight and leave as much green as possible.  We do not want a "bald hill".   I had never realized before how much of the island I can see from my place.  Yesterday I watched the bulldozer go up and down that steep hill, and looked like they were planting and taking care of erosion.

I'd love one. I had a MGB that was a fun car....think it was a '67. Had wire wheels that you couln't keep true but that was a great machine. Not up to the power of the Healey though. My real love is the old Corvettes up to about '64 or until they started putting the weird pipes on them. I had a '59 with 2x4 and a 4:11/4 speed, solid lifters and a 3/4 Duntov cam. Dang thing got stolen stripped & burned. I would have one today but they have gotten WAY too expensive.
