After reading the report of the man who allegedly poisoned the tree's. I did a little research. Apparently he lives on the lake. Just goes to show that crazies are everywhere. I hope that my fellow Auburn friends keep their composure over this whole situation. As wrong as it is the old saying "two wrongs don't make a right" will hopefully keep retaliations at a minimum. Or so I hope.

Hang the bum.......no place for that type of stuff...all kind of wrong.
I am a BAMA fan but always loved seeing the tree after game day. I hope they can save her!

It appears that the guy who did this in named Harvey Updike from Silver Hills road past Chucks on Centerport. Whats really strange to me is that he is a retired Texas State Trooper!! This guy makes me feel better about the stupid things I have done in my life!! Oh and PS his bail is 50k, sounds like hes in some really hot water..

The guy lives 1.18 miles from me on the lake. I was thinking about rolling his house but, after thinking it out, he probably doesn't have any trees anyway. Oh well.

I am a devout Alabama fan; a season ticket holder; a member of the Red Elephant Club and yes, to be honest...I pull against Auburn just about everytime they play. To be fair however, my wife is an Auburn grad and most of our neighbors are Auburn supporters and indeed...they pull against Bama most everytime they play as well-thats just the way it is here. That said, what this man has done to Toomer's Corner is the most classless, juvenile, outrageous violation of the Auburn community I can think of in years. He does not represent the Alabama fan that I know. In fact, I feel so strongly about this, that I may try and garner interest from other Alabama fans to raise funds for the replacement of the trees or some other suitable gesture of good sportsmanship.
What a jerk.
Auburn won the national championship. Good for them!

A guy in Texas did the same thing a number of years ago to a cherished live oak on UT campus. The guy got a 9 year jail sentence. I think he gets the max they can give him. Which will come from the federal charge of using the herbicide outside of its intended use.

I'm hearing and reading that Mr. Nice Guy House Owner was bragging about the poisoning on internet message boards log before any of this was discovered. If so he either did it or knew about it and did nothing, either of which revokes his Nice Guy status.
