The B.S. law about the length (speed) boats is not rite.Just because my noise is not your noise does not make it unlawful. You don't get off on the trill of cutting across the lake @ high speed and I don't get off on cutting my grass @ 730 a.m. on my day off.Your leaf blower is just as loud as my boat - should we pass a law against v-twin leaf blowers ? makes no sense !

Not trying to stir, just venting - before they put a restricter plate on my free speech !How can this law get passed and if it spreads across the country it will kill another industry. How many more jobs can we afford to lose . I'm close to retirement age - not ready for a rockin chair . Just saying there is no tolarance anymore .I don't like the nieghbors dog barking at 3 a.m. but I tolarate it .We should all strive to be good nieghbors not dictaters!

Just curious why you" tolerate" your neighbor's dog barking at 3:30AM?????? Doesn't seem to be someone just trying to get along. Tell him to quiet the dog!!!!!! Inconsiderate people are the reason laws are passed that restrict our freedoms.

It's the LAW...and it's completely constitutional. Move along, no need to cry over ancient history. The ONE MP on the water this summer will be looking for you...as long as you anchor at Chimney Rock. Otherwise, you will probably not even get noticed...except by the majority of the folks on this lake who will hate your boat...

Why is it as soon as someone gets a unfavorable ruling, they immediately cry "unconstitutional"?
This issue was ruled on by the Alabama Supreme Court. It is the law, not a choice.

I told you Spyke. Although I agree with you, Politicians are random, and sometimes just not doing what we expect of them. Way too much underhanded mess. I will say no more, but documents on this law are very disappointing, and surprising. At least to me. Trust me, I took it to the "Alabama Supreme Court" with the help of others. I know exactly what the words say. Hound, you know exactly what I speak of, although you were not around 7+ years ago. I hope this thread ends now.

Double trailer trucks are banned in various states. Cars without catalytic converters are banned from being manufactured. Cars that can't run on unleaded fuel are banned from manufacture. And, big boats are banned from Lake Martin.
I love the sound and speed of big loud boats but they belong in the Gulf. And, I fully understand the love of cruising around the lake at 100 miles per hour but realistically, they do belong in open water. Boats under 26 ft should have a speed limit. Problem is no way to enforce it with 2 MPs on the water.

Logan Martin does not have the restriction on boat size. We have an association that fought that battle and won. The biggest boat on the lake is 98'. Doesn't bother me, there is plenty of water left foe everyone else.

Stop complaining! You're just lucky that the Boater's test didn't have a section on spelling. If there was a rule that you had to know spelling or grammar, your boat would be dry-docked, and you'd be "speeding" down the lake in tour pedal-boat.

Well golly gee whizz! Thanks fer 'memberin' me... I GUESS!!! LOL
Way back when, I remember a rumor about who initiated said law/rule about length and speed on Lake Martin and it goes right back to MY golden rule.
If I win the lotto, I'll prove it to you... cuz the local politicians will line up to bend and break the rules for MONEY. That's how it works and if you don't believe me I feel sorry for you.
ANY WHO.... complicated subject! I ain't even got a boat! (At least right now any ways).... There should be a happy medium in there somewhere. When you create a law like we have in LM, you just instigate alot of fuss... people work at trying to upset the 'status quo' by having loud, SLOW boats (oh God.... I know it on the weekend mornings) and really FAST quite boats. Hmmmm.... that's what all you fast guys should work on is being really fast but quite and they'll go after those fishermen with the uber-fast, semi-loud fishing boats that IRRITATE THE LIVING CRAP out of me every single day!!
