Understand there's talk of incorporating a City of Lake Martin, encompassing the area from Blue Creek to Sandy Creek. Dadeville's search for new tax revenue by annexation apparently has stirred the discussion from folks who say a new town might welcome their ideas as well as their money.

We are on the other side of the lake, but go for it.  Be in control of your destiny!

We might incorporate into "Coosa20ville".  Hound could be Mayor, Mack head of the City Council, and LNG could be an honorary citizen. I would bring up the rear...:>)

With that idea at least!
Just think about it?? At the first meeting Hound would be centered on the access to gourmet olive oil. LNG would be presenting a resolution to ban Pine trees and rabbits, and I would probably retire to the truck for a short break.

I'd be focused on bringing a Publix to Lake Martin.

While that would interest me, the cost could very well be extensive. I do however support the concept of becoming part of Lee County. If there were any way this could happen, I'd be all over it.  I've given up on this county treating our area of the lake as anything but a cash cow to milk then support the north end.

Typical politician, Hound....I know you'd be secretly working behind the scenes for a Whole Foods while promising a Publix.

Aw, come on....go for Earth Fare or Whole foods at least.  That way we can offset the well-marbled ribeyes!

i sure hope so; Alex City treats LM residents like second class citizens; they wouldnt even let some artists who live at LM participate in their art contests, but they sure love us to shop there & advertise themselves as "The Lake City"; many residents are moving from  Alex City to Auburn//Opelika to enroll their kids in Auburn schools; Alex City still has an in effective Chamber & Mayor--they cannot attract any businesses//restraunts//shopping; theres no place to buy decent clothing !!! most towns would die to have an artery like 280; look--not even any KIa or Hyundai suppliers have located there; the biggest employer is the Hospital; I see a very dim future for that little city; i sure hope & pray LM can incorporate--more an more people are locating here full time & we need to control our own destiny

I could go Earth Fare or Whole Foods. Imagine not having to go all the way to Montgomery for healthy food... Maybe we could even get a Vintage Olive franchise.. Agree about Alex City. Can you believe that they are building a Taco Bell on 280? Like we need more fast food here.

If you've been to Vintage Olive in Montgomery you were less than a mile and a half from my house.  They do have some really interesting aceto flavors...who'd ever think of putting vinegar on ice cream?

I just wish he wasn't quite so proud of his products.  As they are priced now we only buy for special occasions.

They are pretty expensive. I use them sparingly. Quite fond of the Tuscan Herb. Haven't tried any of the vinegars yet, but I'm getting there. I didn't realize they were a franchise until I looked them up on the internet.

an expiring long term triple net lease. The new building will be cheaper to maintain and may even be leased at a lower rate too. Somthing will go in the old building but probably not a national franchise. Seems dumb on the surface but it makes sense to the franchisee. I"m still looking for decent BBQ.

New BBQ coming to the old Cove.  I understand that it will be run by the Momma Goldberg people.  And will have a Momma's there also.

Richard Davis is the owner of the lodge. His brother will open a smokehouse at the restaurant.  If they have anything to do with Mamma Goldbergs, I haven't heard that from the owners.

I think Momma Goldberg's is overpriced mediocrity. Now that's only based on my experience on the one near Sam's.

In 50 years Alex City has managed to grow by 1,817 people, despite being smack-dab on Highway 280, and despite the growth of Lake Martin. Leadership in most places would have to try very hard to ONLY gain that small a number, given the resources that Alex City has.

This goes to show you the effects of  having a leadership base that depends so much on nepotism that it borders on incest.
