Subject:   Looters Preying on Storm Victims??

Reported from many storm damaged areas of Alabama. Valuable resources being wasted to prevent it??
This is a travesty for normal people.
Sorry, but I am just maladjusted enough to offer a quick solution: Remove the State Trooper assigned to stop looting, and pass it on to the Volunteers carrying chain saws and hammers. No cuffs/no paperwork/no repeat either!
Compassion in this case belongs to the actual victims, not the scum who exploit the situation.

I agree with you. There has got to be a special place in h*l* for those that would try to rip off someone after devastation.

I was on the lake thursday afternoon and witnessed a group of hispanic and a long haired blonde man looting. When out of no where comes a game warden(i might add way to fast) with a big wake. jumps up from the wheel of his boat and in a intolerant voice states the lake is closed i must leave the area. When he quitened down i stated he should check out the looters on the bank. His reply was they were contract labor!! I was leaving when he approached my boat the same way as the first. Demanding my vessel lic.,reg.,life jackets, and extinguisher. After looking at my reg. and lic. he did not hand them back but crammed them down in a cup holder then checked my ext. after showing him my life jackets. He sent me on my way. I wonder how he felt after he found out the group onthe bank was looting!! Russell lands security was the ones that sent the looters on the way.(the looter said they were there to pick up tools and anything else they could find) My point is he could have used a little more tact,I had no idea that the lake was closed. But what i did know is these people that were affected by the storm are my friends or aquaintences and if i can be of help i will be!! It is going to become where we can't help others for fear of being harrased or arrested!

That some people always seem to be having problems with law enforcement, when the rest of us have no problems at all? Seems to me that there is usually a bit more to the story than gets related... like an attitude, or being in a place one has no business being... Interesting, isn't it... yes, RealFast, it's been a real "week".

Hound i wonder why it is that you have a comment on everthing!! I just stated what happened to me. Some dont need the job they have. there is a way to approach something and his wasn't it. The officer i am talking about is the same type that local water patrol was. He is no longer employed my the marine police. Law enforcement should not cause the problem to escalate. Akind word goes a long way and should be used by both parties involved. If you got out of the house and away from your computer I am more than sure you would be in some sort of problem. It is easy to make the statements you make on a keyboard but don't try it away from the house my friend. If you need i will post your bond. You might have to wait a few days since I do not get on message board that often.

I obviously wasn't there for this event, but I have seen this type of display from law enforcement more than once in my adult law abiding life; I can assure you there was no "attitude" when I've seen such displays.....I think most law enforcement officers are good folks and try to do the right thing, but their are those out there on a power trip or  those that don't have the proper training to deal with a situation like the one realfast mentioned.  I have learned to never take anything for granted and never assume an authority figure can do no wrong.

I go EVERYWHERE. I bet I spend less time on my electronics than you do. Funny, I've never had a problem with law enforcement or been subjected to an attitude by law enforcement. I've lived in a number of states and traveled all over the world. Spent tons of time in my car, traveling between here and VA when we were building. Never a problem. Realfast was in a place where his right to be was questionable. So questions were asked. I'll bet if he was outside your devastated home, you would have been glad the questions were asked.
