I was traveling Hiway 63 to Alex City and saw a sign advertising Storm Shelters, I believe the name is Lake Martin Storm Shelters. I could not get the phone #. Does anyone have info on this.

Somebody earlier suggested "jumping in the Lake" as a storm shelter. I thought that was a joke. But looking at some of the pix of the destroyed homes around the lake, many pics showed the permanent docks to be intact. Maybe lashing ones self to a strong post under the dock is not such a bad idea??

Wanted to post some information on Lake Martin Storm Shelters. We will be providing fiberglass storm shelters including installation in and around the 5 counties surrounding Lake Martin. We offer 3 sizes small(up to 6 people, Medium(up to 8 people) and large(up to 12 people)comfortably. They are shipped and manufactured in Texas with a company that's been in business for 30 years. Were excited to be able to provide this shelter service for the local residents. We'll have a in ground shelter and a traveling shelter on a trailer on display at 9070 Hwy 63 south. The shelters should be here in 2 weeks. There are many advantages with a fiberglass storm shelter vs. steel or concrete. One of them being telephone and internet service. Our website should be up today! www.lakemartinstormshelters.com Our contact number is 256-794-8075 Thanks! Merry Hardy

Hopefully your site will provide some answers.  I've read that fiberglass shelters are rated at medium F4 protection, not higher.  Also, you can become the conduit for a lightening strike.  If I am going to pay 3k for a compromised protection, I'd rather go up to the next level. Or is that steel competitors talking down your product?
