State Department snubs the Elders

Former President Jimmy Carter and former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari were hoping to visit the State Department this week to brief officials on their recent trip to North Korea, but nobody at the State Department was available to meet with them.

Carter and Ahtisaari, both Nobel Peace Prize laureates, had been eager to give their readout of their meetings in North Korea April 26 and 27 to U.S. officials and press their case for a resumption of food aid to the Hermit Kingdom. The two are members of the Elders, a group of senior figures who have been informally engaging with regimes that official governments won't deal with, in the hopes of finding pathways to peace. They traveled to North Korea last month with former Irish President Mary Robinson and former Norwegian Prime Minister Gro Harlem Bruntland. Other members of the Elders include Kofi Annan, Desmond Tutu, Nelson Mandela, and Aung San Suu Kyi.

The performance of President Carter and his delegation in N. Korea this week was either shameful or fatuous...or both...and exemplifies why Carter had no...zero...USG support going in, and even less coming out, per an alleged eye witness account of Sec. St. Clinton at the morning meeting the other day:

"Do you want to meet with Carter?" Clinton is looking at papers, and just says "No." Then she pauses, looks up and adds, "HELL no!!!"

I am liking Hillary more by the day. with hindsight 20/20, she definitely would have been better than the Messiah in Cheif. What a disaster he has been.

I think Obama won largely as a backlash against both HIllary and Bush. Much more so than anybody voting for him with the exception of the entitilement folk and the youth.
You are right, she is looking much better every day compared to him.

100%. Lordy, never thought I'd see the day that I would agree with anything Hillary. My, how times have changed. Jimmy Carter, "I've never met a dictator I didn't like," is, and always has been a disgrace to this country and I appreciate Hillary's harsh words. Now, if only Obama could grow a sac like she has. Not likely but, one can hope.

Don't count on the Messiah. He is not only giving us Jimmy's 2nd term but is anxiously looking forward to making the big speaking fees on the worldwide Hate America Tour. Now he only gets $450K per year and a big expense account to go around the world trashing the U.S. and bowing to 2-bit petty dictators. On tour he will receive $300K per speech to bash the greatest country ever to have existed on the planet in all of history. He can't wait for the accolades and the money and is immensely grateful to the worthless one and Slick Willie for trashing the honored tradition of ex-Presidents......

I never ever, ever thougt I would say this, but she has been good.. A stable influence during a horrible assault on the Nation's foundations.. How things play out over the next 2 days with Israel will tell me a lot.. If Secretary Clinton resigns, I will vote for her for Pesident, and I'm a conservative gentile..
