Yes, I'm using this forum to "Promote" my new business and to establish new relationships with the business community. What do you do Mr. "Frog Hog"? or Mr."T"? I will try not to be offensive to either of you, or anyone on here. I will try, in the future, to contain myself as not to inundate you with news of my daily successes. I just thought it might be interesting to see a new Lake Martin Company try to make it. For any of you that might find my "topics" offensive, please don't click on the titles that have MikeElliotts.com on them. For those of you who have been supportive of me then I am so sincerely thankful. I have already met people from this forum that are a tremendous inspiration. In today's economy you can use all the inspiration you can get. Michael Oh yeah,,, and I think it was Mr. "T" that said my nutrition label is not on my site. It is the last picture on my site with a full picture of the nutrition label and bar code, etc. If you have problems reading it, leave me a message and I will gladly blow it up and send it to you. Michael

Actually, it is Ms. T or Hound, to my familiars. I now see the ingredients of your product. I'm curious why you chose to include high frutose corn syrup? I'm also curious as to the origin of your recipe. How did you come up with it? Old family recipe? Experiments in your kitchen? And how did you decide to bottle it? In other words, what is the story behind your product. Your website doesn't enlighten, at least not that I can see. I guess I would say to you, other than knowing the origins of your product and is it really a local product is that if your product is as good as you say it is, people here and on the grilling and recipe forum will be singing its praises, much the way Cat's satisfied customers post testimonials to his business. Just give us a little break from the daily commercial and give word of mouth a chance.

Maybe a one-time post something like:  "thanks to the forum exposure my distribution network is growing.  Email me if you'd like the details."

Something like that might  open lines of communication with those who are interetsed in finding out where to get your product while not filling up the forum with detailed product announcements.

Cat has been cited as an example to follow....in the fall I've seen him post something like "I will be making house calls this weekend to winterize boats.  If you are interested get in touch with me".  That provides a service to forum members (letting folks know there will be at-the-pier winterizing available) without having to endure a sales pitch.

Mike, don't get us wrong.  We want you to do well if the product you sell is worth it.  The proof is in the tasting!

Since Peppertree is just around the corner (didn't make it to AC or Catherines this weekend) I can pick up a bottle there.

And Hound did bring up an interesting question.  Do you make this stuff in your home kitchen, or do you contract to have it made and bottled?  Again, taste means everything, but we are a curious lot...:>)

Might be best to say nothing of your business ventures here. I'm sure that you meant no offense but the truth is all uninvited ads are an invasion of the forums venue. Sorta like just as ol' John Wayne is just about to snatch the red-headed widow woman off of the railroad tracks, the station suddenly cuts to a commercial about "Tampex".

Granted, this isn't really a shoot 'em up and rodeo movie, but in principle, it is a site for the people in and around the Lake to discuss Lake issues. (swimming, water craft, water laws, Chimney Rock, events ...).

Yours is a business is a gamble for you. You are convinced that it is a good product. It probably is, But there are 2 things you will have to overcome, (1)The Bar-B-Que industry in and around the Lake is fierce competition. (2) Taste is a relative thing (like beauty is in the eye of the beholder), taste is in the tongue of the partaker. I love raw oysters, my sister hates them. I cannot see why she does not like them, she likewise cannot fathom why I relish them so fondly. different people, different tastes.

Good luck to you, I will try your sause, If it is good (to me), I'll buy it again. I'm sure that everyone here is aware of your business ventures at this time. I'd let others bring up the subject on their own from this point forward and the members will probably warm up to you.

Mike, keep posting. Ignore these select few that have a problem with it. They always have a problem with something. DA comes to mind when I see there posts. (See thread below for definition)

It might be helpful to keep two things in mind at this point:

You can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time , but you can't please all the people all of the time.....

And, don't let the demand for perfection be the enemy of doing good.....

Pontoon, All I will say to you is... It takes one to know one. Regarding the DA comment. To Mike and everyone else. I have never complained about anyone posting about their business before now. To me it just seemed a bit much to read about Mike's Sauce every day. Mike, I hope it all works out for you and I also hope that you take my comment as constructive criticism. To answer your question Mike about what I do. I do home improvement, additions and repairs. You will not hear me plug my business on this forum as all my work comes from word of mouth from my former clients and I only work in the Windermere area. Frog

Mike doesn't have to praise it anymore, because you are all talking about it. :-) He and I had a email exchange and he seems like a really nice man. I hope his product sells well.
