Went to La Posada in Alex City for lunch today.  Don't remember who gave the recommendation, but thanks!  The service was great, the food really good, and a pleasant experience all the way around.  Their "house" guacamole is similar to the "top shelf" guacamole served by my favorite Mexican restuarant in Montgomery, except maybe better.  Their house margaritas are good as well.

Getting to the restuarant off 280 can be a challenge if you miss the turn the first time like I (the dummy) did, but the back-tracking was well worth the effort.

I'm glad you liked it. I think either Feb or I recommended it. You are right about the guc - it is awesome. The people that work there are really nice and very attentive. We've never had a bad meal there either.

The waiter brought out a sample of his more spicy salsas...one with onion and cilantro was very tasty, and the habanero salsa - which he warned us about multiple times - brought tears to my eyes, a runny nose, and profuse perspiration....I loved it!

Also always good to see Hispanics eating in a Mexican restaurant - makes us Gringos think it is the real deal....:>).

We have always enjoyed La Posada also.  Found out last time that you can turn at the light and come in the back way.

The one with the oil and cilantro is my favorite. The one that is the light orange is hotter than Hades. We usually add a quarter of a teaspoon to their regular salsa to spice it up.

Agree on the dark colored one with cilantro and onion most pleasant flavor of the four...and the orange one, just on a chip, definitely gets your attention....

What is your favority entree?  They do anything especially good?

No particular favorite. I just usually work myself around the menu, depending on what I feel like. But, I haven't tried the shrimp tacos, so that will be what I try next.

First La Posada in these parts was in Dadeville, been going for 3 - 4 years and still is terrific.. .  Absolutely the best..  food, price, and service.. The mananger, a guy named Carlos..  our loss, he moved to Alex City to get the place there up to speed.. Remarkable person, meet Carlos one time and he knows your name forever..  This is what legal immigration should be about, a welcome addition to our community.. .

Yes, I think I mentioned they were sister restaurants in my initial post about eating places in AC. As you state, they are tops in service. I just wish they would let me get more than two sips out of my drink before they were offering a refill. LOL The food is also consistent. We often get tired of Mexican since both places are about the best in the area.

Nothing yet compares to the little green pepper I got at Sam Won Garden in Seoul, Korea.  I started at the small end - no problem.  But when I made it to where the seeds were I knew I'd made a mistake...drank my beer, my water, my bosses beer, and was about to reach for the General's beer before deciding to recite the serenity prayer and never eat that little sucker again.

Went back another time, escorting this high-up muckety muck from DC.  Warned him about the pepper but he sais "I am from West Virginia.  We can handle these things."  He, as I, started at the small end and said "what's the big deal?".  When he got to the seeds I swear to the good Lord, he started turning red from the chest and the redness went up his neck to his ears before HE started reaching for his water, his beer.....:>)

Here's to tasty heat!

The Dadeville location is great.  And, Carlos was there the other day when we had lunch.  We've seen him several times recently.  Great service and friendly folks - just enhance the good food!

Man, nothing is hotter than those little Asian peppers. The heat builds and the next thing you know, you are on fire. I like hot, but I don't necessarily want to incinerate my tongue.

Ditto on the water glass...and the chips...and the salsa..and...and... But if that's the only complaint I think we have a winner.

Funny thing is we were in one Saturday night and the chip bowl got down to half empty - we were wondering what was wrong with the service! Agree with all, it is a great place to eat.

Tell them not to bother. The last one that tried could not get a booze license and after a few months went under. They should try to secure a license first. We do need a good Mexican restaurant in the big E. Frog
