City of Alex City contacted me asking could I remove bees from inside a tree so they could remove the tree.. I went over this morning and 3 hours later I am in the tree with a hive full of bees and lots of honey to boot...The comb will go well in jars and it looks so good, taste even better...
Just wanted to brag a little on myself... This is my first year and I have 3 hives... Honey flow has been great so far...
Life is good...

Yeah, It was nerve racking for first 10 minutes but after that I was so involved I forgot to be nervous. I have another capture in Camphill on the outside of a abandond house I could do.. We gather materials and attempt it next. I never exspected to get this deep into the bee business...

Way to go DaB...........next thing you know some smart @ss will be calling you the honey pot! BTW..............years ago had to have a hive removed from the wall space of a rental house...........real pro did the work. With all the bee problems we read about we need all we can keep. I planted several flowering plants around my veggie garden and fruit trees and I've had a good visitation this year.

Thats what got me started... We lost our Bee & Honey Man Mr. J.B. Schockley and I was worried about not having any bees in the county so, I attended classes at Auburn along with a 13 hour Internet course, joined a bee club, subscribed to magazines, and read everything I can find on the Internet...
Man this is turning full time.. lol Nahhhh I have several other sources of income..

Yes, about every 20 minutes I smoked them a little.. Cut about 6 inches wide out of the tree at at time till I found them. Then worked around them smoking when needed.. Once I exposed the entire hive (about 1 ft wide and 2 1/2 ft long I started squirting them with sugar water. Then I removed the broad comb and honey comb. I put the broad into a hive right then and relocated it.
Took a jar of the honey to coffee this morning with comb in it. I am headed down to check the bees this morning. I have 2 more frames to install and add a inner cover...
I have 3 more captures already lined up. I love bottling the honey and putting my lable on them.

Lets drop the subject. I dont want any trouble with anyone... Just like to promote beekeeping so others might take a interest and start their own hives because, we need the bees so bad in our county and the surrounding counties as well.
If you ever get a chance go to You Tube and search capturing a bee swarm or Bees in tree and watch how these guys gather wild bees like I did this past weekend.

Something I've always been facinated with. As a youngster, I had a rare opportunity to film a hive relocating. They chose a tree in the backyard and formed a large ball. Managed to get within about 4 feet of them taking pictures. Only a few bees swarmed around me. After about a day, they were gone.
Years later while in college went to the mountains to hike/picnic. Honey bees literally drove us away from the food. Stings and all. Asked one of the professors about it as killer bees had just moved into the area. He said not likely, as the attack was for food. The drought had impacted the flowers so much, they just needed the food.

Its never to late to get started... I joined a beekeeping association in Auburn and they have helped alot with my questions. The Internet has more info than you could ever read as well. Grab you a hive and get some bees and enjoy watching them work...
My friends say the only reason I do it is I always wanted 5000 people working for me... Oh well...

A swarm of bee are flying about, and one bee zips into and Esso Station.
The moral: Out of every thousand bees there is bound to be one Esso Bee. (This one goes back a lot of years.)
