We have lots of new material we will gladly pass along to you to spruce the place up, we are just getting to old to climb up down the hill. We have another flag, another new pirate and some miscellaneous pirate toys. We can set up a time to meet you and pass these itmes along. We adopted pirate island several years ago and are more than happy to pass the reins to someone new. It is a very unique island and should forever more be decorated as such.

Hi Lifer! Thanks! My kids and I first set up the Island 4 summers ago (2007) with a simple flag ( see viewer submitted photos). That flag was promply "lifted" off the Island...so we decided to put a new flag back up high in the tree that nobody would be able to take. Well that led to the idea of the pirate display below the flag ( there is also a photo of it in the " Lake Martin Landmarks" photo album) . We appreciate that you took it from there. I remember stopping by and introducing myself when ya'll were working on the new flag,new chest and other renovations ( I love the parrot- still looks pretty good too!). It's been fun seeing the additions along the way. Later this summer, we are planning to clean up the old stuff that elements have eaten up and renovate again. We could definitely use your Pirate. Can you email me and we can meet in a few weeks? I also have a new pirate, so the new set up will have two. The chest still looks good, but can probably use a little paint. My neighbors are planning to help out too. I just hope this flag lasts a couple of years- it is not easy getting the ladder out there and getting up to that pole is a little tough as well. Thanks again. Hopefully I'll see you soon. We plan to be back to the lake the weekend of the 25th. Our place is in Madwind Creek.

Hey Walter. I remember that meeting as well. I am certainly glad to turn over the supplies we have. It has been a labor of love for sure. One of my sisters was in the the hospital in Atlanta and I met someone in the waiting room who referenced "Pirate Island" and my baby, Flag Island. We will need to set up a time to meet again and pass along what we have.
