For the better part of a year, we have been developing a "Point Of Interest" database. It is basically an attempt to catalog anything and everything of interest on Lake Martin so that people can find things and learn about the geography and location of landmarks they may not be familiar with. Since Independence Day weekend is upon us, I want to debut this feature with something that has been brought up several times on this forum. Rope Swings! One has been placed on the map. If you know locations of other rope swings, feel free to share those on the map. Be sure you click and drag the map to the actual position. We're working on developing other interesting Points Of Interest. Stay tuned! Comments and questions are welcome.

Make a tab for unusual stuff, like Neptune's Island, Scrungy's Castle,UEM's Egg, you know?

Thanks for the suggestion Mack!

Some of those things are listed on an un-categorized Landmark page:

As for Neptune Island, it is still on the Island Page which is now part of this wiki design:

The icons are all the same right now. We're working on customizing those based on the feature.

You should also point out the closest hospital on the rope swing deal.

Already thought of that:

For Dan that submitted the Eagle Nest, I created a special type for the one he submitted. Nest would be more temporary than landmarks and there is a special interest in those. Someone with a state agency told me two years ago there were three nests. If anyone knows the others that page is here:

I have added one to your Map. It is the big Island infront of Graveyard Island. They have 3 Imature Eagles that don't have the White Head and Tail yet. There is a Total of 5 Eagles sharing that nest. The Young ones are flying and hunting. They look alot like Golden Eagles since they have not gotten there White markings yet.

I would love to see the map with a marking of eagle nest locations. Could this also be added to the interactive map?

Thanks Bruce!

is there any way to keep the other categories available on the menu and let them drop down when you hover? so that we can navigate back to, say, islands, from rope swings, without having to click back.

I'm not sure if I'm crystal clear on your menu recommendation. I do want something easy to use. I am looking at integrating the Points of Interest (POI) all over the site where appropriate (and it makes sense). If someone makes a comment on a POI then it posts to this forum. We've assigned old forum posts to many so there are comment histories going back more than 10 years for some POIs. Thanks
