Got a good friend, bought a boat from them. They did some strange things with the paper work, so that he could use the boat til they got the tags for him. Had him sign a bill of sale showing some figures, which were somewhat inflated, but the dollar amount, given was right. When he finally got the orginal paper work, he found out that his signature had be forged on the orginal bill of sale. As you can guess he was pretty upset. He meet with a few of the people in charge and got really no where. Got the impression form them that, they did no wrong and that he had no recourse. For me it is a crying shame, that a company like Russell, feels like they can do no wrong, because of who they are. Just have a heads up, if you plan to deal with them.

Russell Marine did the same with me. They are not trying to pull any quick ones on you. They do this so they can go down to the courthouse and get your boat registered. Russell Marine is the only boat sales company that I know of that when they sell you a boat it is 100% water ready. It is registered with the license and decals on the boat, comes with the maxium occupant life preserver quantatity, throw cushion, bumpers & ropes for docking. They see that when you leave their docks with your new boat, you are ready to enjoy and have nothing else to worry about. Look at it this way, you didn't have to go stand in line at your local courthouse getting the registration and then go purchase and stick all the letters & numbers on the boat straight.

Just go deal with Chris at Kowaliga. He is honest and you wont have any problems. Really liked having my boat water ready when I picked it up.

You are right about two sides to every story. From what I understand their is more to it as well. He tells of other shady dealings leading up to this event. Just thought I would share this along so, that others may want to keep an eye out, if thay were to deal with them as well. I really do not care.

Forging a signature is mild compared to some of the stuff they try to get away with. They usually DO get away with it. And it's nothing new; it has been going on for so long that I have first-hand knowledge of a lot of shady doings, and it has been a good while since I was on the inside.
One of these days someone-- not me-- might decide that it's time to tell the story of the boat that was stolen from one of the sheds, and why they didn't consider it stealing, and who eventually would up with the boat, and why the rightful owner never saw it again and never saw a dime of restitution.

Wow! What a surprise....mention RL etc, and Mr. Wakely, "I used to be on the inside and I know all the dirt", chimes in with his old gripes and "stories". It seems Mr. W lives to trash RL....I bet he could hardly type in his excitement to once again share his wisdom about the big bad RL. Disgruntled employees are usually pretty unreliable concerning their former employer. Actually, though, old Wake is probably only friends with or related to a former employee and he loves to spread second hand exaggerated gossip.
Sorry folks.....I read this forum often and get tired of people trying to trash a decent company which does a lot of good for this area and like most businesses isn't perfect, nor are all their employees, but there is no conspiracy to lie cheat and steal....just honest people doing the best they can.
And N'freak, your "friend" may have had issues that HE wants answered but why you feel the need to trash the Ridge on HIS behalf baffles me......would you want to be judged and summed up as sorry because of one person's negative experience with you? I would bet that the whole issue boiled down to miscommunication....and certainly wasn't worth bashing the company that provides jobs, tourism, free world class fireworks, Aquapalooza, concerts, Children's Harbor , restaurants, trail systems to name only a few of the benefits and amenities it is responsible for.
And before you rush to call me out....yes, I am distantly connected to a RL employee.....so yall don't climb all over yourselves seeing who can be the first to claim I am biased.......I am.

Oh well, did not mean to ruff up some feathers here. I have seen the documents and know first hand the problem. As far as the good they do, I think it is great, but when one feels, that they are outside the law and good business practices, then I have a problem with that. I do not care who you are, are what you do. You have your opinion and I have mine. I too have been caught up in their practices before, for several years, but the problem I had was my pockets were not quiet deep enough. Go figure. I was just giving, what I thought was some good advice.

I just don't believe that. Russell does lots of things I don't agree with but forgery and theft is not on the menu. Sounds like gossip to me.

I CHALLENGE YOU TO PROVIDE A SWORN AFFIDAVIT FROM THE PERSON WHO CLAIMS HE WAS DEFRAUDED, AND ONE FROM A HANDWRITING EXPERT SAYING THAT THE THE SIGNATURE IS FORGED.

Well Kizma Anuice, I see you were on line giving someone down in the country about getting a boat lift form the post above, after answering your request to show proof. I have seen nothing in my email box as of yet, from you, when to meet and show you the proof you ask for. Go bother some of your other buddies with your bull.
