My neighbors finally broke ground and are building their home to the left of us. We have "pie" shaped lots, that share the same lake front "cove" for swimming. Problem is ever since they removed the trees and ground cover, the rain pours the red clay down the hill into our common lake front swim area. The rocks up against our seawall are covered in red mud and the once sandy bottom has an couple inches of red clay covering it. Our once clear water lake front is gone. I have called the builder and spoke to him, asking for his help. I have called Russell Lands ARC and spoke to them. I am ready to go to the next level. I thought of calling the lot owner to let him know how upset we are, he does not live in the state. I do not want to start a new relationship like this but everyone who comes swimming is upset about the waterfront conditions. Help. Any suggestions??

Thery are required to have a silt fence to prevent that. Call  Lee Townsend of Alabama Power Shorelline.

Depends on which county the property is in. Tallapoosa County: Contact County Building Dept. Elmore County: Same Coosa County: Good Luck. ADEM has authority to fine the owner, but it takes forever. They will usually send someone out to the jobsite and threaten the contractor. APCo could be a good bet, if they get interested. I'd try all avenues, time is not on your side. If you do not receive satisfaction email me, maybe we can help.
