Some do have lights but it cost money. The state does not furnish the buoys. They are bought and paid for by the LMRA - Lake Martin Resource Association, a volunteer group. If everyone would join the LMRA and make a small donation they could eventually get lights on all of them.

A lot of buoys on the lake do not have lights. And do not think any of the danger signs are lit either. So if you are not familiar with where buoys are located I would not boat at night.

Ala Power pays for buoys. LMRA, Russell Lands, puts them out. Marine Police tells them where to put buoys. Few are lit. That's why it's smart to stay off the lake at night.

Are there any "known" hazards on the Lake that are not identified by buoys?

Thanks for making that clarification (or should I say correction).

Will give it a try - When boating at night, be sure to watch for docks - they will likely be unlit, and may not be visible during daylight hours. The best way to avoid a collision would be to use a FLIR viewer to locate them.

I have a Lowrance HDS5  with navioniocs  southern lakes SD card. It has all the markers and shows bottom contours.

easy way to do it is to get a cheapass gps that will save a line.

make you night trips in the day time and then follow the line at night.
