Took a boat load of old folks by Pirate Island yesterday at 11am. All was fine. Took a load of young folks back at 1pm and the last pirate had been stolen. I wish I could catch the @ssh0les that are doing this. There is a special place in hell for folks that do such crap.

He either went to look for his friend or left the state because he was illegal.

Or Maybe he is on a pontoon boat with 45 other pirates, living the Haitian Dream on his way to a cabin where 6 families are living the Mexican Dream.

I realized the second pirate was gone Saturday as well. My guess is that it's the same loser that took the first one. My eleven year old son was pretty upset about it , and frankly I was too ( still am). Whoever did it is a true sociopath. It took a lot of hard work, planning and time to make the Island look good and create the Pirate scene. I know you also put time, money and work into the Island as well, Lifer. It was something that, I believe, was enjoyed by many - especially kids. I know it certainly didn't hurt anyone or offend anyone. It's too bad there are people in this world who take pleasure in destroying things that other people create and enjoy. Our boating season is over for this year, but we'll be back next year and we will rebuild at that time.

PS: In case Privateer is reading this, here is a definition for him... and yes it fits perfectly:

Sociopath: a person, whose behavior is antisocial and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience.

Arrgh... there be a hangin tree and noose already there for the scurvy ridden pestilence that keeps pirate napping me brothers.

Wait till spring and the pirates and flags will be back, only with a little twist!! Motion activated game cameras are VERY cheap these days. I can assure you the scumbags pic will get posted if I catch them.

I was in a hospital waiting room last year and got to talking to some folks who have a place here. I was trying to give them directions. They didn't know Young's Island, Woods Island, Farrows Island, Cemetery Island, or even Flag Island. Nor Bay Pines Marina, Pleasure Point Marina or DARE Park (none of those by name anyway). But they DID know Pirates Island cuz their children insisted on going by there every trip to the lake. It has become a landmark and part of the landscape of the north end of the lake and brings a small amount of joy to countless boaters every year.

Don't give up Walter!! Good will triumph over evil every time.
