I was out in the boat by myself a couple of weeks ago and caught a glimpse of a bald eagle on the northern part of the lake, near the mouth of Choccolocco Creek. I thought I had been mistaken, but yesterday my wife and I saw one from a distance as it flew over our place. We couldn't be positive from that distance, but both of us saw it this time, and it definitely looked to be a bald eagle.

I had heard of them nesting at Guntersville but not at Logan Martin. Are bald eagles fairly common here? Has anyone else seen them?

Yep, there's a couple of pairs around the lake. There's a nest down near Clear Creek. The nest is actually near the Renfroe VFD. And I've been told there is a nest on the St Clair side just south of Stemley Bridge. I've seen them couple of times but I've never seen the nest. First I've heard of them that far north but hey, they're pretty mobile. <>< TC

I'm just down from Lakeside and see one almost every weekend, usually it is just flying over but a couple of weeks ago it was soaring in circles and the sun hitting on its white head & tail made it fun to watch
