Finally made it to the Wahoo's.  Really cute place but REALLY disappointed in the food.  My grilled Mahi had absolutely NO taste.  The sauce that was on it was not good either.  I thought the menu was strange.  We had a group and we tried several things.  I didn't think The West Indies salad was good at all.  No one at the table liked it either.  Besides the bad taste it was plopped down on a piece of paper in a basket.  Not very appetizing. I personally didn't care for the watermelon shrimp but others liked it OK.  The best thing at the table was the friend shrimp but I try to stay away from fried.   The service was as bad or worse than the food.  The first person at the table got their meal and 20 or more minutes later the last person got their meal.  The checks were wrong.  We had to tell them they had not charged us for everything we ordered!  I also didn't like the styrofoam bowl for the salad.,  Oh and the oysters though very small were very cold and good.  The place was packed so it is very obvious there are plenty of people on the area that are craving a good seafood restaurant in the area.  We will give it another try but I talked with someone after we had been that said they had been twice and they were very disappointed both times.  Said they were out of Mahi both times and service was horrible.  I hope they can work out the kinks because it is a really neat place.

My wife and I along with another couple had a complete opposite experience.  Good food and great service.

We haven't made it yet, but my parents also had the opposite experience....they were very pleased with the service and the menu/food. I'm hoping to make it there later this week; we don't eat out often (we love to cook), but Wahoo is on our "to do" list.

We went there again Friday night and I thought the grilled Triggerfish was as good as any I get in Destin.  And I love Destin.  Had a pretty good wait so we sat at the bar and everybody there was having fun.  Plus, the prices are more than fair.  So far, Wahoo's Grill is my "Spot".

If you're an out of towner, suck it up, this ain't ATL and you probably won't get a "dining experience" to meet your fancy on a crowded weekend. If you're a local, go on a week night and help the place survive. Food was good when we went. Agree the plastic salad bowls were terrible, but the two free beers soothed my ego. They'll go broke soon if they don't get their beer and wine license real soon. BTW, where on earth can you get good yellowfin grilled properly for twelve bucks?

Glad to know that is has been good sometimes.  The only grilled fish they had on the menu when we were there was Mahi Mahi.  There was no trigger fish nor any tuna.  That is what I meant by a strange menu.  Not many choices.  And the catch of the day was a fried Wahoo basket which probably would have been good because I have always said fried cardboard would probably be good!   Have a physical coming up and was trying to stay away from the fried and heavy sauces.

Service was excellent, but they weren't crowded. Met the owners and they were very nice; they have a great attitude and desire to please their customers. They just got their liquor licence approved today, so they plan on getting more  beer and wine choices soon. Overall, food was good. Shrimp and scallops were excellent. Raw oysters were excellent (and large). Fried mushrooms were very good. Fried fish was a little dry.  Prices are reasonable. The friends we went with have been there several times and they told us the reason they serve on some paper products has to do with septic approval issues....couldn't get approval for full use of dish washers with current septic system (don't know if they are working to change that or if it's even possible).  They are still working out some issues, but I have high hopes for their success; they certainly seem to be trying hard. We will go back.

Glad to hear they are trying to make some changes because to me it really is a cute place.  Did you notice if there was trigger or tuna on the menu?

Visited the Wahoo Grill tonight and waited 3 hours for 2 hamburgers and 2 shrimp dinners.  When the food was served the fries and shrimp were cold.  It was not the waitress ... it was the management.  A table of six next to us had waited longer than we had and said something to the waitress. She called the manager, Jay, to the table and he apologized for the inconvenience and made excuses for the delay.  However, when dinner was over and we told the manager how we felt about the food and service he became belligerent and threatened to call the law.  He then  told us to pay our bill and to "GET THE HELL OUT"!  WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SAYING THAT THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT.  I would lIke to say that my family has been in the restaurant business for many years and NEVER have we ever talked to a customer in this manner.   I would strongly suggest that the manager get PEOPLE SKILLS WITH HIS CUSTOMERS AAND HIS STAFF!
