Follow up on my post a couple of weeks ago. I followed the process of another Samsung owner I found posted on the web and it worked. Process: 1. Called in problem to factory service--they turned it down, but when I complained kicked me up to "Executive Service". (that means someone whose first language is close to English). 2. Turned down by Executive Service. 3. Got follow up call from customer service survey person, who was trained to side with me, but had no authority to help. 4. Wrote snail mail letter to CEO of Samsung US....got call today (12 days later) and was told that they would cover the three year old TV for a Samsung design problem. This is exactly the process Samsung followed according to the report on the web, so when (not if) your 2007-2010 Samsung flat screen won't power up, you will know what to do. From what I've read, the problem is common in DLP, LCD, and Plasma....wrong capacitor size used during manufacture of the power board. YEA!

RCA is an American trademark brand owned by Technicolor SA which is used on products made by that company as well as Audiovox, ON Corporation and Sony Music Entertainment. RCA stood for Radio Corporation of America, a company which later became RCA Corporation which was taken over by General Electric in 1986 and then split up. ON Corporation uses the name to make RCA TVs under a licensing agreement with Technicolor SA.

RCA  died in 1986. As you said, the trademark is now owned by Technicolor SA (which if French) and produced in China....rather have a Samsung than anything run thru China by the French...jus sayin'.

At least Samsung is a Korean company - and last I heard they were one of the few friends we have left.

Have no idea where the TVs are made but at least the parent company is in a friendly country.

What do you folks think about LG appliances?

Was born before the end of WW II.  But LG is a newcomer...I think pretty highly of the quality - just wondered if other had the same opinion.  LG is the brand name of some products coming from the Lucky Goldstar conglomerate in Korea.

This type information is why I consider the forums such a valuable resource.  Thanks for your persistence and reporting.
