Reply to 11/04/2011: "Visited the Wahoo Grill tonight and waited 3 hours for 2 hamburgers and 2 shrimp dinners.  When the food was served the fries and shrimp were cold.  It was not the waitress ... it was the management.  A table of six next to us had waited longer than we had and said something to the waitress. She called the manager, Jay, to the table and he apologized for the inconvenience and made excuses for the delay.  However, when dinner was over and we told the manager how we felt about the food and service he became belligerent and threatened to call the law.  He then  told us to pay our bill and to "GET THE HELL OUT"!  WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SAYING THAT THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT.  I would lIke to say that my family has been in the restaurant business for many years and NEVER have we ever talked to a customer in this manner.   I would strongly suggest that the manager get PEOPLE SKILLS WITH HIS CUSTOMERS AAND HIS STAFF!"

I hate to hear this kind of stuff about a local place.  I will tell you that my second visit was not as good as the first.  The salad was in a plastic bowl and appeared to had been frozen at some point because the cucumbers were almost transparent.  The fish was so salty that I had to scrape off the salt coating on top and it was still not edible.  I was planning my third trip there to see if they could redeem themselves and try the hamburger but if it takes 3 hours to get one I think I will give it a miss.  Perhaps Jay will provide you an apology as I am a firm believer that the customer is always right.  Oh, and if anyone gets arrested there you can always call James Bond bail bondsman in Montgomery.

We have yet to try the Wahoo Grill or the James Bond Bail Bondsman services. I have read numerous reports both pro and con on the Grill. It would be interesting to read your and others experience(s) with James Bond Services since I have seen no previous post dealing with their customer service. Is the wait for service as long as three hours? (All the above posted tongue in cheek.)

I was at Wahoo's when the p00p hit the prop.
Up until that time it was a normal nite at  a backwoods fry restaurant. There were the usual  half dozen Willow Point  members, who were sick of the  menu at club and about 50 rednecks.
The service was slow, probably because there was a constant line of people waiting to get in. They were out of the special at 6:30 and had quit making West Indies Salad, because "nobody wanted it"
That left fried stuff,  hamburgers, and shrimp wrapped in halfcooked bacon with some sort of an odd looking pickle incorporated in the mix.
To me fried stuff is fried stuff.   You might as well batter your socks  and deep fry them it all tastes the same.

So I would describe the fried stuff as average.  It was quite salty as fried stuff tends to be.  I presume that the purpose of the extra salt on fried stuff is to assist in getting coronary artery disease.  It will raise your blood pressure while the fry grease clogs your arteries and assist in building plaque.

The whole experience was shaping up to be your usual boring Friday in rural Alabama until about 8 or 8:30.

I was sitting with my back to the  room so that I could face the door just in case the wrong crowd came in.  All of a sudden loud cursing started behind my back.   I don't know who started it,  but I saw a waitress leave and another get a smallish dude who came out of the kitchen to get in on the cussing.  An old dude in a dirty red baseball hat was yelling about the customer always being right, and waving his arms randomly in the air.

About that time all of the Willow Point people got out of the place.  I wanted to get involved but I could not figure out which side I wanted to be on.  So I just sat back and enjoyed.

Unfortunately,  both sides turned out to be PU$$IES,  and no punches were thrown,  no knifes were brandished and no guns were fired.

I will give Wahoo's one more chance.  But next time they need to get better rednecks.  I want to see fists flying, knives brandished, and guns fired.  It would also help if would get some bimbo's to drop their pants and run around the place slapping their a$$es while shouting "You can just kiss my a__"

And bygod, since "THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT" and I am the customer,  I have every reason to expect to see that.

The reason for your dissapiontment in the shortage of rednecks and bad behavior is obvious - lsu and roll tide reds were somewhere else watchin the big game,I'm sure thats where the fists were flying and other bad behavior was taking place ! also where the best gumbo and other grilled meats were being served. Thats where we should have eaten!

The customer is NOT always right.  Sometimes, he is wrong (in the boat business anyway) and needs chattin' with.  Sorta an education, explain that noise you heard again sort of thing????  DON'T make me go up to Wahoo Grill and have a sit down, have a cold one and cook for yall.  Whew, tough crowd.    LOL.  Just sayin'.

I've been twice and will not go back. First time, servive was horrible. Took management 45 minutes to figure out we were at one of their tables ready to be served. Another 30 minutes for the waitresses to complete their argument as to who WOULD NOT serve us. Another hour for the food. Watermellon Shrimp was waaayyy overcooked. Had the oyster appetizer. The oysters were about the size of a dime. Gave it a second chance on a weekday. Service much better. Had the $9.00 hamburger. It was ok, but fries were cold. Won't go again. It's a shame. I liked the atmosphere and the place is cozy but, sooner or later the food and service has to prevail and, I don't hold out much hope for that.

Most definitely the customer is NOT always right.....as a matter of fact they're in the wrong most of the time you just usually put up with it.

We ate at Wahoo's this evening, and had a very pleasant experience.  As you are aware, Jay is no longer there, the menu is undertaking some changes, the staff were great, our server was exceptionally attentive and the food very good.  We will go back again.

Subject:   Growing Pains are to be expected...
Date:   11/11/2011 1:53:52 AM

I could tell during my one visit that it was the kind of place that would experience some serious growing pains. All summer long people were saying that they needed to open in the summer, but now it's clear that they wouldn't have been at all prepared for the summer season. They'll spend the next four months learning. It will be hit and miss; my bet is that weeknight experiences will be much better than weekends. Come springtime, they'll think they have it all together, but a sudden upsurge in business will test them. Then things will drop off a bit, and pick back up in a huge way come May and June. This will be the telling point. If they're not ready for summer business and can't handle it, they might not make it through it. But if they do, look out! Given that all of the problems I experienced on my one visit can be easily overcome with experience, some training, and a few changes (let the hostesses seat people, and get some busboys to clean the tables; having the hostess abandon her station for anything other than seating people is a bad idea on a busy night) I have high hopes. I suggest they consider that it's better to have too many waitresses/waiters than not enough. And since I experienced none of the customer-service problems mentioned, I won't address them, other than to say that it's common sense that something like that will destroy the business, no matter how good everything else is.
