If you want some good comedy look for Stephen Colbert's interview of a couple of actual OWS idiots. He absolutely eviscerates them and their absolute inanity. The woman went by the name Ketchup. I kid you not, you can't make this stuff up. I hope and pray these people are still at it in November 2012 and Oblamer/BiteMe are still egging them on. Most reasonable thinking Americans (i.e. all except the 20% who are libtards) will be rightly disgusted with these useful idiots and it will not help Dems in the least.

I strongly support the right to protest. However,it had to be taken down. You cannot have people living in tents in NYC. I remmeber a protest by truck drivers who closed the Ben Franklin bridge to Philly. The police left them alone. When taxi drivers tried to close the 59th street bridge in NYC, Rudi took it to court and under the 1st Amendment the judge said they had the right but he set the time for their protest with their taxis between 4-6AM.
I assume you support protest under the 1st Amendment whether you agree with the reason for the protest. A parent never knows when their child decides it is time to rebel and join a rally. One of the great perils of parenthood.

Enough of your venom already. Even if you don't agree with street protests, it doesn't serve any purpose to denigrate everyone of the sympathizers in this way. Your harshness is part of the polarization that propels the problem. Their protest is not likely to change the system, but we should recognize the fact that so many people, in so many cities across the country, found reason to go into the streets to display their dissatisfaction with system. There is a huge and potentially destabilizing income disparity in this country as we go into the future. We should pay close attention to what this means, and not just wrap ourselves in smug self-congratuations that I have been financially successful... and if you have not, there's something wrong with your character, or intelligence, or moral fiber.
As far as Newt goes, I think it's pretty funny that he makes this reference. He already gave the rest of us a serious bath by taking $1.5 million in consulting fees from those same federal agencies he derides for their wasteful spending.
Just sit back and have another martini, man.

SEIU has been planning, and fomenting this protest since at least February last year, with their ultimate objective being a write down of their quarter billion dollar indebtedness to BofA and Wells Fargo. That would free up additional cash for zerO's reelection, explaining why he stands behind them, of course. I too am dissatisfied with the system. Dissatisfied with my reduced purchasing power as a result of higher fuel prices, brought on by this administrations opposition to environmentally responsible domestic energy production, diminished purchasing power caused by the current administrations preoccupation with reparations via obamacare, vanishing private sector employment opportunities for all skill levels brought on by regulatory over reach, and most unhappy with the US long term financial outlook due to DC types unwillingness to address federal government spending. Yet, broadcast and internet news inundates us all day and night with stories about these poor slobs. And in the process, we find some otherwise rational people buying the narrative. Bless their hearts.

For the record: I am not using any alias here, and my posts are my own. Indeed, Canada is a beautiful country. Viet Nam was a long time ago. The GOP Presidential candidates are doing a great job of promoting the re-election of Barak Obama. Right wing hostility matches up well with extreme left-wing views... both are paranoid, myopic and pretty weird. Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party appear to be expressions of many of the same grievances (but both would be horrified to admit their kinship).... and the most troubling aspect of all is how this left/right rancor has completely paralyzed our political system by pulling us into polarized camps. We are suffering terrible economic conditions as a result, and risking a far worse scenario in the future. Without consensus, we won't find a way out of this mess.....
And the long-standing problem with this forum is the level of shrill insults and aggression directed toward anyone who isn't a hard-core Right Winger.
Tallulah Hound is right, our anonymity is allowing everyone to say what we think without self-censoring.... making it more likely we will slam & degrade each other because we won't have to answer for it.

It was center to right docility until certain institutions were deemed too big to fail, yet paid hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars in bonuses, docility until GM bondholders were shoved to the side in favor of the UAW, docility until it became clear that a trillion dollars in taxpayers monies were allocated exclusively as political payback, docility until people learned that deficit spending jumped by 300% with flat revenue for no apparent reason, docility until it became apparent that unconstitutional executive regulatory over reach was having profound impact on wallets, and then there is obamacare. Now, the progressives in leadership positions are taking their infatuation with EuroSocialism to the next level by endorsing the actions of ows, along with, by their failure to condemn, the behavior of individuals within the movement. I have yet to see or hear any ows participant call for personal responsibility and accountability, and without that, people are dreaming about finding common ground.

Fact is GF and a good many others on the forum and I are on a first name basis as weIl have exchanged personal emails. They know my name, where I work, even my cell number. Doesn't slow me or GF in the least from tweaking each other.

We deal in truth every day but of course we are speaking of objective truth......it is liberals that can't handle that version of the truth. They have to rely heavily on maoral relativism, otherwise their world view collapses under the weight of facts and evidence and has to rely on emotion and good intentions no matter the actual outcome.

Here’s my world view. I grew up around here, and I can tell you that Right Wing radicals have been dangerous, destructive and sometimes downright murderous in this part of the world. That part of our culture has held back economic development in this region for many generations now, but unless you lived thru it yourself… you wouldn’t appreciate the gravity of this problem. It just hasn’t been that long since the locals were hanging people who were opposed to their world view. I readily admit to that listening to more of that sort of hate-mongering invective makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck as I wonder where the Conservative tide will take us next.
You take an easy & self-confident position now, but it hasn’t been that long since Catholics were persecuted around here, too. Priests and Nuns were threatened & intimidated for their work in community organization, congregations condemned as idolators and papists. And it wasn’t until 1963 that anyone would even consider voting for a Catholic for President (A Democrat!). Consider this: In times past, you could have been the object of considerable right wing animosity yourself…. And if you woke up to find a cross burning in your yard, you would be seriously hoping to find a neighbor who expoused inclusiveness and tolerance.

Copper, you are all over the place with this post so I will try my best to deconstruct. Apparently right wing radicals have done a lot of damage that I haven't heard of in the 23 years I have lived in the south. Now I am aware of all the bombings and other criminal acts by left wing radicals in the 60's but the other stuff eludes me. Now as for hangings, you surely must be mistaken if you attribute those acts to right wing radicals, whatever or whomever they may be. I presume you are referring to hangings in the old south (last one reportedly in 1981 in Mobile, AL). Guess what dude, those were all democrats involved in the K K K and hanging blacks. Not Republicans. Now I know how liberals like to wrap themselves in the flag of civil rights but at least try to do it with a modicum of honesty.
As for your thread about Catholics I am truly mystified. Catholics are persecuted and have been from the beginning. So what? But no one is torching crosses in anyone's lawn and those of us who are conservative would not even understand the point. Frankly you may be confused about what a conservative is and believes and are confusing them with rednecks and racists (i.e., Archie's friends from North Georgia). As for Kennedy's election, oh that we actually had some Democrats today that espoused Kennedy's economic beliefs. In fact, a great many of the people I know that voted for Kennedy are now Republicans. Understandable since the GOP represents fiscal sanity and the Dems represent fiscal inanity (not insanity....just ignorant and ill informed). So if you want protection from hangings I suggest you vote for pro-gun, pro law enforcement Republicans.
