If Fast & Furious is ever truly investigated, the American people will learn that it was an Obama plot to show that assault weapons were being "illegally smuggled into Mexico", thus giving him the ammunition to pass anti-gun legislation. The death of the border agent brought the ruse to the forefront, thus putting the administration on the defensive.

I completely agree with this assessment. It was a half baked idea driven by an anti-2nd amendment agenda. I suspect that the program reaches the WH and possibly Obama himself. Unlike Clinton, when it comes to implementing his left wing agenda he would not be smart enough to employ the cutouts. I really hope Issa goes to the mat on this because I think it could be exactly the kind of scandal that will disgust enough Americans that they will be done with the guy.

I think you are on to something. "Is the PinC hiding something or is it a racist cover-up because he and Holder are both black." But you neglected to include the real reason is that they both like chitlins.

There are some real issues and heads should roll. I have watched some of the hearings on C Span. To suggest a coverup cause they are black minimizes the severity of the coverup. It is much more involved than the color of skin. More like the character of the person. l believe Holder lied as this was too big not to know.

I don't think it has anything to do with race. This was a major lack of judgement that backfired, and ended up being made public. I wonder why Administrations never figure out that trying to cover this stuff up never works? They probably sealed the records because they don't want the American people to see how stupid and ill conceived the whole thing was. This kind of stuff happens in almost every administration. Sometimes it fails and blows up, sometimes it doesn't. My belief has always been that if you really knew what was going on in the world on any given day, you'd be appalled or scared to death, so it's better that you don't know.

You are quite an expert on blacks especially considering you live in Idaho with a back population of 0.6% compared to the USA of 12.6%. Just think, if you moved to Lake Martin in Alabama you could become a GENIUS on blacks.

Can't wait for hob's comeback on this one. Say, GF, did you per chance spend a career in the military? If so whch branch and for how long? How many different states have you lived in and for how long in each?

In the interest of full disclosure I spent two years in two stints in Mississippi, two years in Turkey, six winters in Omaha, NE (the winters are the only times I remember because they were so nasty), a year in north central Maryland, four years in northern Virginia, two and a half years in Seoul, Korea, and 26 years in Montgomery - 3 the first time and then the rest up til now.

So, GF, what has been your exposure to the world? Do you think you have a broader range of locales in your resume than hob? Do you really have the personal resume' to challenge hob on his locale and what might influence his opinions? 'Fess up if you have the cajones to do so.

I still don't think it about race. Yes, H_Hob we know you hate Obama and there is no conspiracy theory too wild for you not to embrace. I don't see how any of the other two incidents you cited are in any way related to the Fast and Furious thing. So I guess I'm not getting your point about race. And Hodja, just so you won't have to ask, I have traveled all over the world, but I don't think that makes me an expert on race. But, I can tell you that I grew up in an all white community (only 2 black kids in my graduating class) and my lack of exposure to Blacks made me quite ignorant, about how black people thought and lived. Lucky for me, I have had the privilege of overcoming that ignorance in my adult life. What I have trouble understanding is why H_HOB seems to enjoy being on Lake Martin forum when he doesn't live here, vacation here or own property here, unless he thinks that this being a Southern forum, his somewhat extreme ideas about race will be better received.

My point about diversity in places of abode had nothing to do with race - it was simply to ensure GF didn't come back with some cheap shot about my experiences.

Now, one thing you seem to misunderstand about the Off-Topic forum is that it is NOT a Lake Martin, or even Alabama forum. It is for anyone who chooses to post. It just so happens that most of us have a Lake Martin connection. Hob doesn't, but that doesn't disqualify him from being a full fledged member.

And to your point about growing up with only two blacks in your class...I grew up with ZERO blacks in my graduating class, yett my home town at the time was probably 30-40% black. In spite of that, our society at the time was so insulated that I had graduated from college and was an Air Force officer before I knew the down side of the term "boy". It has been quite a process of education since leaving that comfortably (for me) segregated environment.

But that's not the issue here. It is whether there is a racial bias in Obama's relationships with Holder, Wright, and the rest. May very well be that there is a racial component to it, and surely you don't deny that might be the case.

So, relax and enjoy the Off-Topics ride...you never know where it might lead!

Years ago when living in New England I did some ice fishing. Do you use sonar (Lowrance or Hummingbird) out there for ice fishing. How deep do you fish? Do you fish from a small shack and set outside rigs with pop up flags or do alot of jigging? I assume a lot of perch are caught. What other fish?
