Subject:   Bye bye Ben Nelson of Nebraska
Date:   12/28/2011 9:43:02 AM

Yet another in a long line of Dems that voted for Obamacare and having read the electoral Tea Party leaves decided to "spend more time with their family". Right........at age 70 after spending over 20 years in politics he decides he needs to move on as he so eloquently put it. Now Dems were already in a pickle holding onto the Senate as they had to defend 23 of the total 33 seats in this cycle and at a time of high unemployment and an unpopular Oblamer. So far, six of them have chosen to retire and spend more time with their families rather than pissing away millions to lose to the GOP challenger. The gap between folks that identify themselves as Republican or Democrat has shifted dramatically toward the right side of the spectrum. Independents have abandoned the Messiah's agenda in droves (well, he still has Hound as the lonely voice of one crying out in the wilderness). Heck, I am even starting to think we might get a filibuster proof majority......not that this will matter with the RINO's like Scott Brown, Olympia Snowe, etc. But it will look good on paper. Oh and let me point out that Ben often voted with the GOP but was strong armed into voting for Obamacare. So much for Hound's half-baked theory that Americans want their elected officials to compromise......what they really want is for their representative to pursue their agenda and get the opposition to compromise. That is the way politics has always worked.....except of course to the politically naive like Hound.

he was strong-armed? Did he tell you? Or is this another right wing conspiracy theory? At age 70, he probably is tired of Washington and does want to spend more time with his family. You have no idea at the pace that Washington moves at, not to mention the traffic and the cost of living there. The BS that this session of Congress has put forth, is enough to make anyone want to retire -- anyone that had any interest in all in getting a job done and not just playing politics. -- Or maybe he's just made his millions and has decided to move on. MM, you are so brainwashed by political BS, you have no sense anymore.

Preach it Hound!!  The last paragraph of MM's post is one of his dumbest and most illogical yet.

Well gee that is as dumb a question as one could ever come up with which of course is why Archie is in total agreement with you Hound. You are who you keep company with......not meant as a compliment by the way. Do a little research and you will understand why he voted for Obamacare. Here's a hint......the Cornhusker Kickback. Of course, you may opine that all the goodies Nelson got to vote for Obamacare is hardly strong arming. But it does cause one to wonder if his constituents were all for him voting the way he did now why did the leadership have to use the carrot and the stick to get him to do so? And what does he get for his vote? He has to retire rather than get his butt kicked in 2012. You are so naive about politicians......leaving to spend more time with his family.......what a rube you are.......

I can always count on you to add nothing of value to any conversation except to glom onto another's post (which I have obliterated by the way) and do your little cheer. I bet you were in the glee club in grade school and high school, right? Archie, the Jokes section awaits you as this seems to be where you are most at home anyway.

As a matter of fact I was in the High School Glee Club and proud of it. As for the Jokes Forum...I hang out there because the posts reach a much higher intellectual plane than any of you right wing nuts ever manage!

And you remain politically unsophisticated. Forgive me for not taking pronouncements about my political savvy from some water consultant in Georgia who drinks the Republican kool-aid exclusively, seriously.

MM, those leaning left experience extreme difficulty with facts, and therefore resort to feelings as support for their statements and various positions. The pattern was established long ago, and anyone challenging a lefty in any forum or format, must be prepared to forward not only the relevant truths, but address the non quantifiable, non verifiable, often times non sensical "feelings of truth" . in short, you are wasting your time laying out an argument based on fact, when in their world, fact is, and facts are, irrelevant. Another apparent pattern is the quarterly series of post by Archie (fact). it appears he gets a 90 day prescription, let's his meds runout, then, finds his way to off topic, before his keepers realize he is out of pills, and restart his medicated regimen.

How about you set us straight and tell us how Obama has done all these wonderful things to move the economy forward rather than blame everyone else for his failure.  All the liberals like you can say is the wasteful stimulus should have been even larger.

Since I do a lot of work with large not for profit organizations, I see first hand the wasteful grants out of the stimulus.  Like "woman in highway" ... restricted to minority women that are single moms.   My God, is this good for the economy, is that the way to stimulate it.   Then there is the Green Jobs, also restricted to only minorities with a past criminal record ... yes that is correct.  The training was done ... but sadly no jobs were available, but they got paid $10 an hour under the grant while being trained and they had to be reported as "employed".

There are many more and think about how many across the country.  I have no problem with carved out grants to help certain sectors ... but this was a stimulus bill to get the country moving again, not for pet Obama projects.   No wonder it failed.   And when the not for profit would push back on a grant, they were pressured to spend the money.  My guess was so they could report activity ... not that they cared about the result.

For the first year and a half ... Obama worked on pushing the disasterous health care bill down the throats of the american people rather than focus on the economy and jobs.

The only accomplishment i see for Obama on the ecomomy is that he accomplished to put us deeper in debt, never pass a budget (first president ever for that accoimplishment), add so much regulation that businesses starting cutting rather than adding jobs ...  and then whine how the problem is people are not paying enough in taxes and businesses are greedy.

Obama does not understand capitalism ... or he does and just does not like it and is focused on changing it.

So now it is your turn ... tell us about all his great economic accomplishments and why he should be reelected.  I would vote for ANYONE other than Obama ... it can not be worse than the disaster he has put us in. The finacial crisis was a shared responsibility ... personally i would say the liberals bills put us on the track to where it lead, but the GOP could have taken a harder stance than they did to stop it ... but it was no way all the GOP or all the Dems.

Yet Obama plays this class warfare that accomplished nothing, and looks to blame others rather than take responsibility that his policies have not worked ... then work together with the GOP house that the people elected to move things forward. Obama's idea of working together is just to agree to more of his failed programs and higher taxes ... then blame the GOP for not passing more of his FAILED agenda.

If you do not feel it has failed ... then what is your excuse ... we both put forth perdictions after he passed the stimulus bill .... how did yours work out ... myself and others pretty much nailed it.   But as i said even back that ... for the good of the country I would LOVE to be wrong.   sadly i was not ... you were.

Actually, I am an environmental consultant that does work all over the world for U.S. multinational corporations. I and my partner have regularly interacted with EPA and NOAA headquarters folks out of your much beloved D.C. I pay $1,000 per hour lobbyists to get what I need out of the federal government as its the only way to get something done with all the brain-dead bureaucrats that suck the life out of the productive in this country enjoying cheap health care and lavish pensions looking forward to the day they turn 50 so they can retire in splendor at our expense....... So considering how much I pay for your much beloved government it behooves me to stay informed...... You just don't like my world view which is OK. Oblamer still has a few so-called Independents that are too proud to admit their mistake in voting for him.....fewer every day.

Its all about good intentions and never about what actually happens. Hound feels good for voting for the Messiah so she just chooses to ignore the abject failure he has been as President. And Archie feels good because all his friends are apparently redneck racists so this is his way to demonstrate to the world that he ain't one of them.....and sadly he also desires the destruction of the country (the essence of the libtard) and so for him Oblamer has been a double dip.

My point is to refute your unfounded opinion that I am somehow some naive and unsophisticated about the ways of politics and D.C. and just a "water consultant" (whatever that is) with no real world experience.  In fact, it is exactly my experience in D.C. and my having read a ton of material on politics (most of which is historical, including books by liberals) that informs my opinion.

I see what works and what doesn't work and can get beyond the rhetoric and come to my own conclusions about what happens in D.C. and state capitals.  I just happen to inform myself based on factual evidence and eschew emotion or good intentions.  Nice as they may be, they don't change the reality of the way the world works and are better left to academia and bureaucrats.

Hound's blind spot is she actually believes her time in government was the real world and all the rest of us that are actually out there making the wealth that she and the other bureaucrat leeches live off are in some sort of fantasy world.  Government and academia.......the only places where liberalism seems to make sense despite the fact that it never works in the real world.

Fortunately those of the 99% who actually live in the real world will carry on and carry the load for them.  That's what adults do.......well, to be fair only about half of us actually carry the load but that's OK, we can handle it.

I have never had to live off of anyone. And did you know, (former) bureaucrats like me smirk at people like you paying big bucks to consultants and lobbyists and various other bloodsuckers, to get what you could get for yourself if didn't have your head stuck up your butt. That's the beauty sometimes of being a bureaucrat -- when you meet someone with their head totally up their butt, you can enforce the regulations and rules to work against them to the point that it costs them big bucks and wastes a lot of time. But when someone is honestly interested in doing the right thing, and can act professionally the rules and regulations and bureaucratic system can work so smoothly in their favor. I've saved companies a lot of money over the years working with them and helping them achieve what they needed to do. It's all a matter of attitude. Ironic, isn't it? And I can see why someone with an inflated sense of self importance such as yourself has so many problems that you have to pay out the big bucks. Stick a pin in it MM (just don't hit anything when the escaping gas has you careening around the room)

Your post above, and the attitude reflected in it, is the very basis for the formation of the grass roots TEA Party movement. Thank you, and the many unelected, unresponsive, unaccountable, uncontrolled, career bureaucrats like you, for unwittingly breathing new life into, and advancing conservatism. It really is kind of funny, sad too, but funny. For anyone else reading this, search You Tube for South Park "smug", watch it, reread the above post, and understand why, over the years, I have on occasion, referred to Hound as a Prius driver.

Not a Prius. And I believe in Capital Punishment. And believe in a strong national defense. But I also buy organic produce and believe in helping the less fortunate. And I paint, but I also own a handgun. So what is your point? That I am an individual? Happy New Year. I suspect it may be a very tense year for you, but I wish you the very Best.

Nothing is wrong with driving a Prius, as long as you don't get in the way of my 5,000 pound Toyota Sequoia......we eat Prius' for breakfast and lunch. I keep looking for a Chevy Volt as an appetizer but have yet to actually see one on the road.

Read a piece recently that if they build the pipeline it will provide enough oil from Canada that we will no longer depend on Middle East oil. In fact, we could stop buying oil from the Middle East altogether if they build the pipeline. Will also create 300,000 new jobs. Is being blocked by the environmental leftists that have influence over the administration. They are already planning an alternate pipeline to the port of Prince Rupert and they will sell the oil to China and India. How does that make sense?

If you want to stick it to the Sauds support development of the vast rsources we have within our borders.

We have oil.  We have gas.  We have wind.  We have sun.  We have nuclear.  All we need is the national will to develop and use it.

and a Mustang GT, and a Harley, while my wife drives an MDX and a Harley, tall son a Suburban, not as tall son a 4 runner, and daughter a Land Cruiser. Kids cars are all hand me downs, not much chance for a hybrid unless they buy one on their own. Used to buy exclusively GM, but that changed in 09. Nothing wrong with driving a Prius, except when the all knowing feds again attempt to determine winners and losers, and taxpayers are subsidizing the purchase. The mention only ties to the South Park episode and the apparent tone (bureaucratic attitude) of the post referenced. You can watch the entire episode, Smug Alert, but the short clip link below sums it up. http://m.youtube.com/?appcache_off=1324271660&reason=1&errmsg=E-SER%3AQUOTA_EXCEEDED_ERR%3A%20DOM%20Exception%2022#/watch?v=K6hlUF4h-ZY
