The number of people seeking unemployment benefits fell to the lowest point in almost four years last week, the latest signal that the job market is steadily improving. A surge in apartment building offset a drop in starts of single-family homes, pushing housing starts up 1.5% in January from December. The Labor Department says the producer price index, which tracks price changes before they reach the consumer, rose 0.1 percent. Wholesale prices fell by the same amount in December. In the past 12 months, they have increased 4.1 percent, the smallest rise in a year. General Motors earned its largest profit ever in 2011, two years after it nearly collapsed into financial ruin. The 103-year-old company (GM) made $7.6 billion in 2011, up 62% from 2010. Full-year revenue rose 11% to $105 billion. OBAMA 2012......

GF, two can play the game of cherry picking. - Gas prices up 85% since Oblamer took office - $3.9B in federal funds paid to Obama donor energy firms while alternate energy firms living off gov't money drop like dead birds flying through a wind farm....can you say payoffs to campaign donors?!?!? - More than 1/3rd of working Americans have given up ever finding a job, the lowest level since Jimmy Carter's first term - CBO reports actual unemployment at 10% rather than the fictional 8.3%. Actual unemployment/underemployment at 17% - Deficits under Oblamer of $4T+ and growing every day - Over 1,000 days without the Dem-controlled Senate passing a budget despite the GOP-contolled House and the Dem-controlled WH sending several budgets -Without a government bailout, Ford Motor Company profits for 2011 at $20.B v Gov't Motors profit of $4.7B while the government loses $14B+ on its investment. Three more people bought a Chevy Volt last month, a new sales record. - Catholic support of the Messiah at -19 versus plus 9 in 2008. ANYONE BUT OBLAMER 2012!!!

Percentage projected end of Jimmy Carter's 2nd term - 78% - Acronym for Oblamer's budget proposal - WTF .......couldn't have said it better myself All these are just from today's news........ GF, you must be so proud of your Teleprompter in Chief......

It always seems perverse to me that whenever there is good news, any good news, for our country, the Right seems bent on disclaiming it. No one is saying that everything is now just great, and that there aren't still plenty of problems and issues to be dealt with. When I hear that GM profits are up and that the number of foreclosures filed is down, or that the economy added more jobs, I just view it as a positive for our country. It's no wonder that the Right is being labeled the party of hate and negativity.

I won't answer for "the right" although my beliefs are more right than left.  I think with regard to the economy the right's protestations about it being "less bad than last month/quarter" are more about how much better it could have been if a different course had been taken.  Point is the country is and continues to be in bad condition economically
and the "less bad" is in spite of Obama's awful economic policies, not because of them.  The true wealth creators are going to rise above the left's attempts to tax and regulate them to death, and thus the positive movement in the economy.  Going to be interesting to see how many can answer "yes" to the question "are you better off today than four years ago" .

Mr. Hodja, before 2008, I was looking forward to retirement.  Now, I don’t dare.

But lets face it Hound, with all the bad news that folks like GF and Archie ignore month after month are we really supposed to just let them pick some nuggets of hope (or more like positive results in spite of the Messiah) and let it pass?!?!? The implication in GF's post was that Oblamer was actually responsible and should be given credit for these small kernels of good news. Well I think the whole picture is more appropriate and if he gets to take the credit for good news he also deserves the credit for the bad news....of which there is a he!! of a lot more.....unless you get your news from the government media in which case you would be clueless about the truth. And remember, for 8 years of W bad news for this country was welcomed as good news for Dems (wonder what ever happened to the daily death count? How about wall to wall coverage for Sheehan and her ilk?). I happen to think that Oblamer as POTUS is the absolute worst news for America and I am going to tell you why. As a good friend used to say to the whiners and complainers....DWIP (deal with it please).

"And remember, for 8 years of W bad news for this country was welcomed as good news for Dems" As a member in good standing of the 1% club, I would expect you to rise above petty politics. Rather, you support my premise that the RIGHT cannot post good news. You are no better than a DEM who you accuse of cherry picking. Not all the economic news is good news but you fail to even acknowledge good news. You and your fellow right wing nuts thrive on bad news as your candidates for POTUS cannot win on their own merits. One supported a medical program with mandates, one wants his former girlfriend while he was married to be first lady, and another lost his reelection by the largest margin of any incumbent since 1980. Here is what Trump had to say today "Donald Trump criticized GOP presidential contender Rick Santorum today for his election history, specifically the former Pennsylvania senator's 2006 election bid, which he lost by a huge margin. “He lost his election in Pennsylvania running as a sitting senator -- by 19 points,” Trump said on NBC’s Today. “So the people that knew him best turned him out and let him go locally.”" And this is your leading candidate. OBAMA 2012..............

You see GF, I never disputed the good news. I merely added balance to your having cherry picked some isolated nuggets of good news to justify your irrational and self destructive support for Jimmy Carter, 2nd. If you want to attempt to give the Messiah credit for the good news you will simply have to live with me presenting the awful reality that he has been an abysmal failure in everything but moving this country ever closer to destruction. As Jack Nicholson said so well, "You can't handle the truth!" Anybody but Obama 2012 is my leading candidate. You can keep the Teleprompter in Chief all to yourself.

We are where we are. So I'm happy that there is anything that is in the slightest way positive going on. People can argue all day about what the problems are and how they are best addressed (heck, we've got an entire elected body who spend all day, every day doing nothing but arguing), but at the end of the day, I'm happy that there is anything that shows a glimmer of hope.

Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum are not going to participate in the next CNN-sponsored debate. Let Newt and Ron Paul duke it out while no one watches. They need to take their message of hope, economic prosperity and peace through strength directly to the GOP primary voters and bypass the government media. While Rome burns and Oblamer fiddles CNN will be asking probing questions like, "Boxers or briefs" or "What is your favorite position in the bedroom" or my personal favorite, "90% of those in the government media think Oblamer is doing a swell job, why are you so wrong when you dispute that our most blessed and merciful dear leader makes a tingle run up our legs?".

If we don't learn from our mistakes we will repeat them.  No doubt we are where we are, but John Q. Public needs to understand where we could have been so he will vote for those who will take us there rather than muddle through the doldrums.

I think there have been way too many debates this season. Ron Paul will probably be glad to have a chance to talk. Isn't he the one that always complains about not getting a big enough bite at the debate apple? I just haven't found the debates very enlightening. Especially when they start sniping at one another.

I agree there has been too many debates. And they are so poorly moderated that you really don't learn much. I did enjoy Newt slamming the moderators but that is about it.
