Some of these threads in this forum get really nasty and personal. I'm sure that if everyone was face to face this wouldn't happen. In the spirit of civility what do you guys think of putting someone that comes down with the uglies in "Time Out"?

Pay no attention to the people behind the internet curtain...

I think talking politics brings out the worst in all of us. I do agree with you RR. Maybe we should ban political debates on the Forum. I am just saying; we never had anything but lovely, and friendly discussions prior to the Off Topic section of the Forum being taken over by the politicos. LOL It almost reminds me of the "Housewives of Wherever" shows. You can't have a show without a fight. Maybe we should have a Real Television Program of the "Off Topic Forum" with all of them in the same room together having ice tea and grits. Now, that would be funny.

Talking politics does tend to bring out something. That's why many of us tend to avoid the subject in social situations, and never discuss politics in a business environment. Thankfully, places like the Off Topic Forum provide an outlet. As for the timeout, I volunteer to go first. I will self ban for 5 days starting at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. That should cover all of my nasties to date, and leave me some credits to use between now and the November election. I won't even check in on you all, nor will I make any attempt to "catch up" on interim posts. Fortunately, my "timeout" just happens to coincide with Daytona Bike Week, so there will be ample other off topics occupying my mind.

Yeah it can get nasty sometimes ... but so what.

Most of us feel strongly about the disaster we currently have leading this great country, as he tries to lower its world position and the freedoms that made it great.

The few that disagree, I would love to hear what they feel is so positive and why they could possibly support 4 more years of this nightmare.

Part of it is the use of alias.  Under an alias, one can channel one's inner junior high school self and let loose with name calling and bullying.  I mean, isn't junior high school the last time you felt like you could let loose and get ugly?  Maybe before anyone goes on the personal attack, they should read their post and ask themselves if they would say those words to someone in person.

Maybe if we agreed to talk about ideas and concepts instead of personalities.... What's the old saw... Great people talk about ideas, average people talk about things, the rest talk about people.

Now this is a post in the spirit of Rodney "cant we all just get along" King. I do wish for civility. Thanks for the post.
