Somebody has a dog at the Ridge that is very annoying. It's pretty new and across from the tornado damaged area of
Windover/Windermere. Barks all the time and must be a large dog because it sounds like it is in my yard! Shut him up PLEASE! It's called being a good neighbor!!!!!

Sounds like it's down by where the new house is being built  across from Wimdermere at the Ridge. Seriously woke me up this morning and still barking!

Take a walk and find out where the dog is at. While there, knock on the door and complain. Do you folks over there have an association? Is it covered by your association covenant? If so, complain to the association president. There is a very good chance the dog's owner is not a member of the forum.

I don't walk on water and we all know sound carries over water so the NEXT DOOR neighbors and the folks themselves don't even know how miserable it makes the people across the water. WE PEOPLE do have neighborhood associations but they tend not to deal with rude neighbors. Do YOU people have neighborhood associations? Funny but the dog is not barking since I posted this. Either the owner came back and fed and watered the dog (brought it in, woke up or came back from excercising, took the ear plugs out and got undrugged) or they heard about this post. Hope you are a better neighbor and dog owner than these folks. If not, BLESS YOUR HEART!

I am sorry none of my suggestions would work for you. I am happy to hear and hope your problem is solved. No, we don't have an association in my sector of the Lake. I have experienced association living in the past, and it has it pros & cons. We are one of the very few full-timers in my area. To be a good neighbor, we control our dogs. Two of our dogs seldom leave the yard and the third one has become the love of our neighbors. She is wonderful around their grandkids and also helps keep the deer out of their yards. They save bones up and bring them down on the weekends just to pay her for her services and attract her over to play. It is a big Win - Win situation. On the weekends we have our dogs in by 10PM and do not allow them out until after 6AM. So, it is the damn owners and not the damn dog. I do appreciated you blessing my heart. Agent Orange is linked to sytemic heart conditions. There is no security system when you are at home better than a good guard dog.

Time for my annual chiming in....I know you are being funny Feb, but there really are many problems with people on this lake (or in the world, I don't know) who just don't give a darn how rude they are being.  It is lovely for you that it is quiet over there in Parker Creek.  But some of us live in populated spots.  In those spots you really see how inconsiderate and even mean-spirited some people can be.  Where I live our hoa has all but given up because the economy has forced them to allow whatever to keep people from losing it all.
We have a new family that lets its dog out to bark from 9:00pm until around 1:30am every night.  Most people in our neighborhood can't say anything about it because they open their doors and let their dogs out to bark at the dog's will without a thought to the noise.  No one bothers with the leash or the leash law.
Now people will joke and say I'm the jerk and the dog doesn't know any better.  But the point is still the same. Some people are inconsiderate and it really is not nice.

There was nothing in my post on this subject I was joking about.

I realize just how annoying a barking dog can be.  I used to have a neighbor on one side of us with two  Jack Russel Terriers and a neighbor on the other side with a pair of Basset Hounds.  It was annoying to say the least.  I even got to the point where I wondered what the sound would be like it you bred a basset to a terrier.

I do believe it is the owner's fault by not controlling their pet.  The dog is just being a dog.

Sorry, this is Feb.  I am using hound's laptop.

This is the real Hound speaking... Two things I wonder -- if the dog is being tied outside; or if the dog wants to go into the house. One very part time neighbor has a beagle, and when they are here, they either tie him in the yard, or leave him in the screen porch and he barks and barks. I generally find that when dogs are barking, it is either that they want something or they see something. Not making light of your situation, because there is nothing more annoying than listening to a dog barking for hours on end. And you are right -- there are some people who are inconsiderate, but then they are likely inconsiderate about everything, not just their dog. I definitely think you need to pay them a visit.

Through Denny, Enzo has gained tremendous insight into the human condition, and he sees that life, like racing, isn't simply about going fast. Using the techniques needed on the race track, one can successfully navigate all of life's ordeals.

On the eve of his death, Enzo takes stock of his life, recalling all that he and his family have been through. in the end, despite what he sees as his own limitations, Enzo comes through heroically to preserve the Swift family, holding in his heart the dream that Denny will become a racing champion with Zoë at his side.

A heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty, and hope, The Art of Racing in the Rain is a beautifully crafted and captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life...as only a dog could tell it.(less)

A quote from Enzo the dog.....

“To live every day as if it had been stolen from death, that is how I would like to live. To feel the joy of life, as Eve felt the joy of life. To separate oneself from the burden, the angst, the anguish that we all encounter every day. To say I am alive, I am wonderful, I am. I am. That is something to aspire to.”

I no longer am bothered by barking dogs.

When a dog is barking every few seconds, rhythmically like an anvil for hours on end, it does not sound as though it (the dog) is living each day as if it escaped the jaws of death.  It sounds terrible and sad.  And it makes the people who have to listen to it feel frustrated and angry.  I can appreciate your great love of dogs.  I like them, too.  But that is not what we are talking about.  Sometimes I feel like folks on this forum would disagree with daylight just to disagree.  A little empathy might go a long way around here.  It's not necessary to diminish the frustrations that some wish to express with platitudes.  Nor should we sooth the conscience of those who would tie their dogs up in the yard and let them drive their neighbors mad.  That does not make a happy dog and it certainly does not make a happy neighbor.

I never intended to diminish the frustrations of any homeowner with my post, as I am sure you will agree. Just attempting to recommend to  the forum  a good novel spoken in the first person by a dog!  If you get the chance, read the book.......and take a Xanax.

I have had both live next door to me and I would take a barking dog over a whining neighbor any day.

Agreed... unless the neighbor... who just wants people to be considerate...has a just complaint against a very rude and mean-to-her-dog neighbor speaks ups! And bless the heart of anyone who disagrees! We all know the REAL meaning of "Bless your heart".
