It seems the transfer fee has been established to maintain and fund "Russell Forest." Looking at the fee schedule posted by another user, those who own property subject to the transfer fee are not charged a usage fee. So where is the forest? Is there a map? I assume the trails are part of it, but what are the boundaries? If I want to take the grandkids for a walk, are we confined to the trails only, or can we wander through the Russell Forest and find a lovely spot to have a picnic?

It is basically the area on the west side of 63, from Kowaliga Bridge to Willow Point. A huge area, over 40 miles of trails, dirt roads, horse trails, etc. The Russell Forest run goes through it. The tunnel under 63 will connect it to Windermere Road.

Here's a video I shot last year:

Do you still have to call the office at Russell to let them know when you are going to be using the trail? I thought that was a bit much for a short daily stroll, but I guess rules are rules.

I found this on their website but I have no clue as to access and the like. May shed some light on it, though.

Or there actually areas you can wander and explore? What are the boundaries? (The map doesn't show any)
