in my case the water is not at the bank so it just makes it deeper at the pier

Dave I look at it differently...... When the water is low and the "bottom" of the lake is exposed and the waves continuously splash/wash or whatever you see a muddy water at least 20ft from the bank. when the lake is full or close to full the splash/wash is mostly catching seawalls or rock or whatever has been installed around peoples property.

That's how mine is, water is 10 feet from the Rif Raf & sea wall and in the morning the water is clear but during the days after the boats get going it is muddy a good 20 feet out from the water line. I think it just settles back in the same place that night because there is not a current where I am but if you were on the main channel where there is a current it could take it downstream.
