I've been on the lake 3 seasons now.  I'm still amazed at the places I don't know.  Until the thread below I had never heard of pirates Island.  So I thought I would start of a thread of some of the cool places to visit on the lake for those of us who haven't found them all yet. Below are some of the spots we regularly stop at.

Big Beach
Peanut Point
Rope Swing
Chimney Rock (I know it's really acapulco rock)
Chucks
Sinclairs

any other fun spots to stop and have a cold beverage?

Too many to list here but if you check out the map feature Bruce has provided for us most of the best spots are noted with GPS coordinates to boot.  If you know Big Beach you should be able to find Pirates Island, it isn't very far away.  Good luck and happy boating.

Yes on the south side of Woods.  You will know it by the sign in the tree that says BIG BEACH....lol.

I will shoot an email to Bruce to see what happened to that feature.  But if you head from DARe Power park due west it will be the third island on the right with the pirates hangin out on the westernmost side.  Or you can triangulate DARe park, Madwind ramp, and Young's Island and find it on any map.  It wont be labeled on your map however. It has no official name.

Update.
I went to the maps page and entered islands in the search bar and it pops right up.  Hope this helps.

is the moment when you will be surprised.

770 miles of shoreline, no one person knows it all.  That's why it's fun to swap spots with friends.  It's also one of the funnest parts of my job. I can't tell you how many times I have happened upon a "hidden" cove that I never realized existed.

I like McGill's....enjoying the spot right now with wings and sausage cooking on the BGE. We love company, but If you come at 7am don't wake me up.  As for other favorite spots, there are many. Mine are where I can hang out with friends (new and old) all over the lake.

These may be considered already known, as I don't think they're necessarily hidden, but:

Billygoat Island
Sand Island

We pass Sand Island going from our place in Parker Creek to just about anywhere else on the lake.  I've always been concerned that someone who isn't familiar with the lake might run aground and/or hit the pine treewhile boating at night.  I know, if they aren't familiar they shouldn't be on the water, but you can't do anything about fools.

The other evening when returning from Sinclairs (is it my imagination or have they hiked their prices?), I noticed that someone has placed a small solar-powered light in the tree, thus increasing its visibilty.  My hat is off to that person or company.

Yea, I've thought about that a few times myself...but, in the long run, all you can really do is watch out for yourself against people like that.  Glad they marked it, though.
