1)    1) Only in America could politicians talk about the greed of the rich
at a $35,000 a plate campaign fund raising event.

2) Only in America could people claim that the government still
discriminates against black Americans when we have a black President,
a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is
black. 12% of the population is black.

3) Only in America could we have had the two people most responsible
for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head of the Treasury
Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means
Committee, BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher
taxes.

4) Only in America can we have terrorists kill people in the name of
Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims
might be harmed by the backlash.

5) Only in America would we make people who want to legally become
American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens
of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting
anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just become American
citizens.

6) Only in America could the people who believe in balancing the
budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be thought of as
"extremists."

7) Only in America could you need to present a driver's license to
cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.

8) Only in America could people demand the government investigate
whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas
went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company
is less than half of a company making tennis shoes and 100% are made

with foreign labor.

9) Only in America could the government collect more tax dollars from
the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a trillion
dollars more than it has per year for total spending of $7 million PER
MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.

10) Only in America could the rich people who pay 86% of all income
taxes be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't
pay any income taxes at all.

7) Only in America could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote. You are a prime example. You live in Georgia, have an Alabama drivers license, and vote in Georgia. The laws of the two states are quite clear: Every Alabama resident who operates any motor vehicle (except a farm tractor or implement of husbandry temporarily upon any street or highway) must have a driver license. This would make you an Alabama resi dent. You must apply for a Georgia driver's license within 30 days of becoming a Georgia resident. Interesting,as an attorney I am sure you are aware of this provision. All states, in order to register to vote, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a legal resident of the state, and 18 years old on or before election day. As a Tea Party member, I am sure you are aware this provision is designed to keep those low life socialist dems from voting in the state other than where they reside.l Your irresponsible response has been that you own a residence in both states. I would hope and pray that as an attorney you know better than that. For once, come clean and tell us why you maintain an Alabama drivers license but vote in Georgia. Obviously, there is a financial advantage having the Alabama drivers license. Share it with you buddies on the Forum. You bestest buddy on the Forum, Jelly The Coward

Your statement: "Every Alabama resident who operates any motor vehicle (except a farm tractor or implement of husbandry temporarily upon any street or highway) must have a driver license. This would make you an Alabama resi
dent." is faulty logic.  WW is not a LEGAL resident of Alabama and thus the statement doesn't apply.  Now if you were to show (as in quote the statute) that "every holder of an Alabama driver license must be a legal resident of Alabama" I might sgree.

Thanks for the input. To further elaborate from the Alabama Drivers License requirements...."A non resident who has a valid driver license from the state of previous residence may drive without an Alabama license for 30 days after becoming a resident of the state." The law in Alabama and Georgia allows a non resident to drive for 30 days before having to apply for a drivers license in their new state of residence.

Thanks ... his logic is so twisted some times it is hard to follow.

Every state has a similar statement.  People that own multiple homes have to pick one state to have their license.  I picked Alabama due to the lower tag cost and insurance cost than Georgia.

He is not a RESIDENT of Alabama, he just owns property in Alabama.  A better question would be "is a resident of another state who owns property in Alabama authorized to get an Alabama driver license?"

Fine, you are an Alabama resident to save a few dollars on insurance. You may be on to something that will help others. Do you file a resident Alabama income tax return since rates are lower in Alabama or do you file a non resident Georgia return? Do you know if having the Alabama drivers license and declaring Alabama residency would enable someone to qualify for in state college tuition which would be quite a savings compared to few dollars on car insurance? However, I am still confused... how you vote in Georgia when you are a resident of Alabama? The law is quite clear..you vote in the state where you are a resident.

You vote where you register to vote and claim residency ... simple as that.  What do you think, I am the first person that has ever owned multiple homes?

Why are you so interested in and keep track of anything that was said in passing in a discussion on here.   Is your life that boring that you have to take an interest in mine or do you really have that much class envy?

Get a life.

That is the correct question and the answer is yes.

I used to just tag my cars in Alabama since tags are half of what they are in Georgia ... then after getting a couple speeding tickets and would also get a ticket because my license was different than my tags ... I would go to court and both times it was dropped as soon as I showed that I also own property in Alabama.  So I finally just went to dadeville and transferred my license as well so I would not be in the same situation.  I was completely upfront when I did it and why, and they had no issue.  I am sure they love getting the revenue.

The interesting thing is I used to own a condo in Park City Utah as well and never had a problem.  I guess some localities realize you can own property and have a vehicle in a state and your license can be from another since you can only have one drivers license.

As for voting in Georgia, I have never had a problem ... they want a picture ID ... it does not have to be a drivers license.  I normally bring both my passport and my DL.

You raised the issue of voting and a drivers license. "7) Only in America could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote." We agree with your statement "You vote where you register to vote and claim residency ... simple as that. " But, you keep evading the question....why do you vote in Georgia if you have to be a resident of Georgia to vote and you are a resident of Alabama? What benefits other than saving a few dollars can one obtain by being a resident of Alabama? I am sure others would like your advice.

#7 does not say anything about residency ... stop making things up and wasting my time with your questions.  You obviously can't read too ... get a life.  The only point was that you need an ID and the administration you support is fighting that where they can.  Some states are giving them the finger and I do not blame them.  Why shouldn't people prove who they are to vote.  I do vote where I claim residency ... we have already beaten the DL question to death.  I can not help it if you can not understand something so basic when someone owns multiple homes.  You have to pick one place and where you have your DL may or not be your state of residency ... it does not matter if you own property in more than one state ... I have been to court with the tickets and won each time.
