Lakngulf's song keeps rolling through my mind....so I ask myself...why DO they like that grill so green?  As fate would have it, I found out in no uncertain terms just a couple of days ago.  Talisi, McGill, SL and others put on the dog (not literally) with a demonstration of delectables which words cannot describe.  Sausages, wings, poppers, shrimp (to mention a few) grilled in a variety of ways....always to perfection....thought I had died and gone to heaven....oh.. by the way...what is this Traeger I hear speak of?

Glad you got to taste some "green", Bigfoot.  They do know how to cook.  I cranked up my "green machine" this past weekend with a couple of Boston Butts rubbed with Dixie Dirt.  They were the best my green egg has ever produced, and enjoyed by our holiday guests.

But we might better check with Mack.  On Monday his smoker was going strong, so Hodja and I had to stop by and see what was cooking.  Mack was into the Leapin Lipitor category again with Connecuh Sausage, wrapped in bacon, and dipped in brown sugar.  I am not sure a Green Egg or a Traeger could handle that.

Et tu Big Foot, I do believe the boys have been taking lessons from Gordon Ramsay. The bacon wrapped shrimp and stuffed peppers with cream cheese were out of this world not to mention the bacon wrapped vidalia onions. I think a Teageris is some type of cooking utensil that uses rabbit pellets of some sort, not sure but that could not bring much to the party...just saying

Wish you would have been there, ML....we were in a zone and I'm thinkin' even you would have walked away totally fulfilled with cholesterol laden delectability. We had Conecuh sausage, Cavanaugh spicy sausage in sauerkraut, bacon wrapped Vidalia onions, mason jar chicken, bacon wrapped shrimp, bacon wrapped jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese (ABT's), broccoli salad,  deviled eggs, banana pudding, mango salsa and chips, humus and celery,  lima beans, coconut cake, smoked Parmesan garlic chicken wings, and probably some other stuff I can't even remember....I'm sure Mack's sausages would have made an excellent addition and glad to hear your BGE had a great day of production. Get ready for the next time, cause it's won't be long in waiting; we'll be expecting you.

Glad we had a chance to visit again with you and BF at Talisi's...... I'm craving another piece of Glenda's coconut cake at this moment and I think Larry's bacon wrapped shrimp would make the Iron Chef run skeered.

Wow, that all sounds good.  Only thing I could offer to all that would be to do the dishes.   Can't provide any ripe tomatoes yet, but maybe I can come up with a veggie dish for your next gathering.

we will certainly welcome a little of your fresh veggie balance from the back yard. On the subject of green, it's been too long since I've had something fried and green.....

Sounds like some BGE and some BGF, and maybe a little squash pizza

I don't think you left anyhting out except the wheat beer, hard cider and wine that Scotty brought for all to enjoy. Looking forward to another cooking sometime soon. To me the vidalia onions were fantastic! They just melted when you ate them.

squash pizza? that may be one of those better left as a "try this" without one knowing what it is; I'll try just about anything once.....I do plan on making one of my 10lb meat and veggie pizzas in the Egg this weekend.

Not so quick! Squash pizza actually sounds very good to me. Add in some vidallia onions, fresh basil, and globs of ricotta cheese at the end, thin crust of course. Pair with a nice white wine. Would make a great appetizer pizza.

Yes, great appetizer.  And the squash is the crust.

You squashed the crust??? How do you prepare it - cut the squash in half, then fill 'er up?

The Kitty is hiding under the porch, but we know he's peeking out. Pizza is going on the egg this weekend, and Kitty is welcome to have a piece if he want's to come out and play.

What do you want ??? As based on my review of the feud between the BGE owners and your Taeger I see no violations of any of the Forum Rules, other than you have tucked your tail and run like a dog and not a CAT when called out and challenged. So with that said the BGE owners ARE allowed to continue to berate and defame you until which time you step up to the table with the Taeger and prove you are in fact a better cook/man. ROFLMAO

Under one condition.  ALL of the BGE cookers get together and decide who will be the ONE lucky person to face of with me.  ONE ON ONE, not 20 against 1.  BGE owners seem to run in packs like wolves.

That sounds more than fair. So what say ya eggheads? ???

Do I need to post my email from early may showing just such a challenge? Do I need to post my text's? Remember, wolves eat Kitty's for lunch but Kitty's are sneaky bad.....Now it's gonna have to wait until July if I'm the guy because Chris is going to need at least one more surgery next week; don't worry though, the offers that have been coming for the last year will keep on coming. I think I'm still gonna cook that pizza tomorrow if you want to come get a bite or try and match it.

how much you want to bet he says ribeye/prime rib.....that's what he keeps texting me pictures of anyway. Those will do pretty good on the 'ol pellet popper (but no better than on the Egg); the challenge also needs to display a little diversity and range.

As an impartial judge I suggest both cook the same offerings consisting of the following with no seasonings so both fares are consistent other than than the cooking ability of the BGE vs Taeger: Beef (Whole Tenderloin) Pork (Butt) Chicken (Whole) Sorry John, no pizzas as do not think such would be fair to the Kitty Kitty.

First of all, seasoning is an important part of grilling, smoking or any sort of cooking....If someone can't do that, they should play another game. Secondly, the 3 things you mention grill/smoke in basically the same fashion (no major skill or technique changes). The beauty of the egg is it's versatility AND superior performance. It also takes some skill to do it right (not just turn it on and set it). A true competition will bring out the skills of the chef and the quality and versatility of the grill. At the very least, a good competition will include a steak, something smoked, and a freestyle event of the chefs choice (pizza, vegetable, ABT etc). Lack of seasoning is nonsense.

What you suggest is similar to having a mechanics competition between Cat and a shade tree mechanic where the event includes an oil and impeller change on an inboard ski boat. Both would get it done with little variance but what would that prove? People who know Cat know he is a fine mechanic that can do wonderful things with motors and marine equipment....why would anyone want to hold him back in a test of his mechanical skills and the tools he's invested in? Same goes for a grilling/smoking/cooking competition. There is beauty in skill, knowledge, method, tools, and technique and I know Cat would agree. Jus Sayin'!

Y'all can't see the cloaked sneaky bad Grillin' Kitty. Don't be fooled, he lurks as we speak.....hiding most the time only to poke when it appears safe....but EggHeads understand. It's tough to be the loan Kitty on Traeger island (low on pellets with no support group) while Egg Heads are roaming every beach.

In one of many recent BGE offers (after a Kitty text poke) the proposition was made for DeeDee, Madison, and Steven to judge that days EGGstravaganza...but when truth is close, things always get reeeeal quiet.....a continual game of Cat and Mouse. What U say, Talisi? Pizza is still going on this afternoon....here Kitty Kitty.
