It will finally happen. A NCAA football playoff. " WASHINGTON — The long, slow march toward a major college football playoff is over. It has been approved. Conference commissioners met with an oversight committee of university presidents and chancellors in Washington Tuesday to approve the four-team seeded playoff, consisting of two semifinal games in bowls and a national championship game that will be put up for bid. Commissioners presented the plan for 30 minutes then took questions from the presidents, who then deliberated for about three hours before announcing their approval."

The BCS was pure BS and the whole bowl system has turned into a monumental joke.  Of course the devil is in the details as to how the four bowls are picked, etc.  Either way this is long overdue.

Too bad all conferences except the SEC will be excluded since teh best college football is played here in the South.

I haven't heard any of the details. How could they exclude any team from the playoffs?

I believe they will eliminate the current BCS ratings and will use a selection committee similar to the NCAA basketball tournament to select the top 4 teams. The Rose Bowl is an issue they have to solve since the two conference champs always play. I assume the committee will include a Catholic to vote for ND, a Mormon for Brigham Young, and a redneck for Auburn and the Tide. Oh yea, a libtard for Harvard. Now, it's getting rather complicated.

Sadly with the way things are going at ND you won't need a Catholic for that institution. I still don't understand the issue. If one of the teams in the Rose Bowl are one of the top four teams then they make the playoffs, right? Or will the playoffs be decided by a set list of bowl games?

"No. 1 will play No. 4, and No. 2 will play No. 3 on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The sites of those games will rotate among six bowls. The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., is guaranteed a spot, and the to-be-determined site of the newly formed bowl created by the SEC and Big 12 is likely to be another, Slive said. The other current BCS bowls -- the Orange, Sugar and Fiesta -- are not yet guaranteed spots in the rotation, but will get first crack at bidding for them. The Cotton Bowl, played at the $1.1 billion Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, has long wanted to be part of the BCS and will no doubt push to be a part of the rotation, possibly as host to the Big 12-SEC game. The winners of the semis will advance to the championship on the first Monday in January that is six or more days after the last semifinal. The first "Championship Monday" is set for Jan. 12, 2015. The site of the title game will move around the way the Super Bowl does, with cities bidding for the right to host."

GF, Did you actually write "libitard" in this post? Have you been hacked?

The definition of "libtard" according to the wing nuts is "Anyone not sufficiently conservative, as measured by fans of Fox News personalities, or AM hate radio hosts." That's me...............

He assigns a lot of labels on himself that we agree with and use ... then he tries to say we come up with them.
