Used to love this course.....did not mind the value/quality equation in the past. The scenery and layout always made up for shortcomings. I played last week for first time this year, the course has really deteriorated to the point that is is not even municipal course condition.....really bad. What a shame....the course has so much potential. I wish the state or RTJ would come in and try and make a go if it....the lake needs a viable golf destination.

I can't imagine any golf course being in top shape right now. My experience with the course has always been OK...although this is not going to be a primo course at ~$40/round. Have you thought about playing the Bobby Jones trail in Opelika?

Is Midway still open? Great course if you have a hard hat... Probably still under $20 and bring a cooler. You have to wear shoes.

I know the difference between weather stress and neglect. Like I said before I had always enjoyed the experience expecting some shortcomings for price. Unfortunately, it looks like ownership has given up....for reasons good or bad. My course in atl is in the best shape it's ever been and it is not an equity club.

When the old course was closed, the quality (and enjoyment) of golf started going down at Stillwaters. The designer of the new course was either affected by the owners on what he came up with, or he just didn't need to design a golf course. It would be great if someone who knew a pitching wedge from a boomerang was running things, but they would still have to put up with the crappy design. I wish someone would go in and redo the old course, even though now sure isn't a good time to renovate or own a course.

The city course eight miles from downtown AC is in pretty good shape. They now have a PGA pro and things are really looking better . I think their phone number is 2568259860. cobra

I have given up on StillWaters.  Too expensive for me.  I now play the Auburn Links mostly.  Better course anyway.

Just out of curiosity on this one. I wonder why more people on the lake who play golf do not play the City course on highway 280?  The membership is OK and the cart fees are lower than most. When you get through playing a round of  golf at any course unless you are a pro it just entertainment. I see people all the time hand out $80 at the RTJ courses  and then hit the ball in the woods and pick it up and on the next hole. What a waste of money. Most I witness playing  on these expensive courses cannot break 100. The city course is there for anyone who wants to play the game and thats all golf is. People drive 100 miles round trip to play these Auburn courses when this city course is right at your door. I would like to hear feedback on this. No, I do not work there or play there regular but I was just wondering about this. cobra
