Hope you and your families had a safe and happy fourth. Had a bad day. Went to the boat parade then drove over to the Rock to take a peek. Did my annual salute a Veazy then headed back to the house. Since it wasn't so hot, I thought I could leave the dogs out while we were gone. Taking some good advice, left them plenty of water (even put some Our Town ice in the bowl), and left the door open to the screen porch. Thought they would find a cool spot if they got too hot. Anyway, got home, and my yellow lab is dead on the porch. I thought it was probably a heat stroke. She's had hip problems and pants a lot. Well, come to find out, I found some shiny green liquid down on the porch mixed with dog food. I called my vet and it sounds like she got into something and threw up. I feel horrible because if i'd have been there I might have been able to do something. Our neighbors (who complain about the barking) said they didn't see her get into anything. My son's devastated. He's four and loved that dog. She's not even the older one of the two. Anyway, thanks for letting me get this off my chest. Hope to see y'all soon on the lake. Your friend, Richie.

I think I would call the police. Dog poisoning (sounds like antifreeze) needs to be punished.

I was going to say this, too.  Sounds like antifreeze to me.

Sounds like that dog was poisoned!  I would report this immediately.  The last thing our lake needs is some psycho dog killer running around.

The vet confirmed that my dog was poisoned by someone with Anti-freeze. I asked my neighbor about it on Saturday. He just smirked and said that he had no idea what I was talking about. I really cam close to giving him a country boy a$$ whooping.  If anyone has a cabin over by Sand Island, keep your dogs around you at all times. There is a dog killer out there and he will not stop with mine.

I'd have the sheriff come out and investigate....did you take pictures or keep any evidence?

Where's Sand Island? We leave our dogs out all day every day (wireless fence). I'm sure it would be pretty hard to prove who did it. I hope you find out and they are punished. Sadly, that won't bring your pup back :(
