I ask this question at my own risk because I know certain people on this forum will probably say it is beaver related or something! But last Saturday we were all on an island and in the water most of the late afternoon. There were 5 of us and about every 2 minutes one of us would jump because of a fish bite! I have swam here for years and had the odd bite but I promise you this was different. They drew blood on several of us. Were we in an area perhaps they were protecting or did we just seem more tasty that weekend? On us two guys, let's put it this way, if we would have been girls we would have put our bikini tops back on.

OK, so let it rip on theories on why they were biting so much please. And please keep it clean KISMU ANUICE.

Sounds like you encountered a school of fudpuckers. But they are salt water fish

They must have mistaken the piercings for fish hooks....

Gotta hope they aren't pacu.  They've been found in a lake in Illinois.

Did you see what kind of fish they were?  I have known of very small bream nibbling on people, but that can just be slightly startling when it is not expected.  Maybe you were swimming in a spawning area and Daddy Bluegill didn't like your presence.  I don't think the lake has much of a Gar population, so the only toothy fish I can think of would be Yellow Perch.

We had the same problem about 11 years ago when we had a boat down there. Around Sand Island area. And about this time of year too. <>< TC

C- LOL!

I'd bet on Bream. I ussed to have an Airedale Terrier that learned he could fish by standing in the water and going for the Bream that were snapping at his wavy hair. Say...maybe.....

How would a dog say "hey, watch the teeth"?

Most likely you were in the midst of a school of castor canadensis cyprinus carpio suckers, which is any of numerous freshwater fishes related to carps but having unusually thick soft lips and unfortunately large buck teeth.

When I was a kid, I tied a lure around each leg and walked through the water to see if a fish would go after it. I know you are expecting a great ending...but I never caught anything and cut my foot on the last "fishing" trip.

The fish saw what they perceived as two "left" feet and swam "right" away. Not sure what this has to do with the thread, but I've played along.

A Bama alumni would say "The fish saw what they perceived as two "right" feet and left the area." Now, I need to find something of value to occupy my mind. Cheers.

Fish love bacon! Have you been eating bacon, or some other pork product?

You can counteract the pork product by eating broccoli, for some reason the fish will not enter an environment inhabited by those people. Apparently broccoli byproducts act as a fish repellent when discharged from a through-hub exhaust.

Please note Summer's remark.  I've heard it called a lot of things but never a "hub"!

You don't keep your pet beaver on your own property, you let it go gnaw on other people's wood?

I knew it would be like kicking an ant hill! But some great tips from everyone and much appreciated. I will stop eating bacon (and Conecuh sausage d*mmit), eat more broccoli (thanks for that advice, -probably the best) and tell my lady buddies to keep tops on if we swim near sand island.  Also, I would like to point out there is a beaver leash law in this state.  just sayin.

I had a Beaver trap set close by yall.  Just figured IF I sicked the CAT FISH to run off the Males, the Beavers may wander over to the trap.  I will NOT disclose bait at this time, but it worked.  I have had two text, and a voice mail from potential pet beavers.  "Just kidding".  I got a feeling when I get back to Prattville tomarrow, Imma' get in trouble for this post.  LMAO.

"CAT, just outside the DOG HOUSE".
