Maybe it happens all the time, but I have noticed lately that there seems to be an inordinate number of grants being provided for various things by the Federal Government.

The latest appears in the Montgomery news.....at first it looks like a State grant...but if one reads on the article states that the money comes from "the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development".

Money well spent or squandered?  One would think that in times like this we should stop such giveaways.

In an effort to get Tennessee Sheriffs on board with a new constitutional sheriff's bill, we are becoming aware of a lot of law enforcement grants from the federal government. It is mind-numbing insane. The Hardeman County Sheriff signed-on to the bill, but at the same town hall meeting was talking about 16 federal grants they were getting. The Patriot Act is what is funding a lot of the law enforcement grants. If you look at their expenditures, it is not even related to any increase in crime. They take money for the sake of taking it (because it is offered).

i have an idea. Let's go round up people on welfare and with low income and move them into really nice neighborhoods. The hard working people can pay the tab.

Think of all the great possibilities:

increased local police force
More home security companies
More liquor stores
Great music at all hours
Readily available (cheap) second hand electronics
Pharmacies(without prescriptions) on every corner

Yes, great idea!

Using taxpayer dollars to buy support and votes is graft.......but that is the modus operandi of gov't and yet another of a million reasons why it should be limited.
