I haven't seen this posted yet so thought I'd mention it, especially for the weekenders.  Local paper interviewed APCo last week and APCo spokesman confirmed that the lake will be taken down 10' this winter.  With some weathermen predicting an el Nino to begin soon, APCo says it will not apply for the drought variance as it has done the past few years that allowed the lake to either rise early or only go down 7'.  The el Nino usually brings significant winter rains.

The dam relicensing process with FeRC will not be finalized until sometime in 2013, if then.  If may be worth noting that the Corps of engineers filed a document asking FeRC to not approve the license until it finishes it "Operating Manual for the river system".  The operating manual hasn't been updated since the 1950s and doesn't even include Lake Harris.  BTW, a possibly significant date is October 8, when FeRC will publish it's Draft environmental Analysis.  A 60 day comment period will follow.  The eA will tell us what FeRC plans to approve for Lake Martin.  Then the legal fun begins.

Why worry about something one has no control over

Just noticed something rather strange. Notice that all the capital "E"s in my post above show as little "e"s. I proofed the post prior to posting so I don't know what computer glitch happened, but something zapped the E's.
