Won re-election in Venezuela for another 6 years. Strong support from voters on the receiving end of Socialist government hand outs funded by oil revenues. Defeated a challenger who vowed to grow economy beyond oil, seek investments, and begin to end dependence on government support. Cuba gave a big sigh of relief. They were getting free oil for resale that would have stopped otherwise.
I cannot help but reflect on the similarities between voters in Venezuela and in the U.S. In both countries, a large per centage of voters are ignorant of any other issues besides a "Government Check" or an "ObamaPhone", not funded by oil but by taxes paid by those with a JOB. Sooner or later,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Mack, sure hope you are producing and paying your taxes so I may contine to receive my entitlements. I had to pay those socialists in Washington $2 for a new battery for my free Obamaphone. Now, that is working I can call my broker. Thanks for your continued support.

Hey GF,

Below is the link for the free OBAMAPHONE sign up.  I was hoping you might help others with information on the process for signing up?  I like on the website how they claim it is not paid for by the "government" but is paid for through the FCC by adding a tax on other paying customers bills.  Really great logic from the Libtards.

They are really advertising for this "program" too - we got a mailing at home offering the phone and 250 "free" minutes. I would say our neighborhood is a solid middle class subdivision, and have to wonder how much the direct mailing is costing us.

It’s true that government provides free cellphones to the poor and disabled people. But the Obama part is not true as Obama didn’t initiate this program. It’s been around in some form since the administration of Reagan. This program has two parts: one is called the ‘Link-Up’ which provided free landline connection to the poor and the other is called the ‘Lifeline’ which provides waiver on telephone bills. These two programs are simply called ‘Lifeline’ when lumped together.

Fish,, Hold onto that phone.  One day those freebees will stop based on a political change or the sheer financial weight involved. When that happens, maybe you can eat it for a free lunch.

The problem is that we are actively searching for people to give more stuff to, and they don't all need the services. My wife and I together do not use 250 minutes on our personal phones in a month, and I do not understand why it would be considered a "need". I believe 911 is a free service from any cell phone - if it is an emergency - dial the number.

C'mon GF, either way this program is a govt funded train wreck and pinning some of the blame on Oblamer.....pun intended....is entirely appropriate. This program cost $700 million before TOTUS and now costs $1.6 billion! For you economically and mathematically challenged folks that represents a growth of more than 100% in a program that has been around since 1985. So like all the govt spending increases with the current administration, in a mere 3 1/2 years of a program that has been around for 27 years they have more than doubled it. Or looking at it another way, in 13% of the length of existence of this program they have increased the cost by 100%. Or like the crushing deficits that TOTUS has amassed, his administration in a short three plus years has spent more on this program than was spent under Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush combined. Now the real question is why the dramatic increase and any plausible explanation is bad for TOTUS. It could be that the economy is so bad that more people genuinely need these phones or they won't be able to call in the plasma TV repairman when their big screen goes down which is an indictment of the current administration. Or it is that the current administration is actively promoting dependence on government like it has with food stamps, disability, etc. in order to garner more votes in November, which is bad. Or it could be both, which is double bad. Any way you look at it this is bad and yet another example of why a vote for Romney is a vote for the kind of change that might actually help Americans economically. Thank you GF for providing me with yet another priceless opportunity to explain why TOTUS must go in November if America is going to avoid the fate of Europe.

Poor Mack can't speak for himself............come on Mack try.........I don't think any caring person resents a disabled person from receiving a phone and I assume you and Mack are caring people.

No, not jealousy. I think it is closer to being disillusioned. Disappointed that so many citizens have no Pride in being a U.S. Citizen. Saddened that the freeloaders do not feel the shame of their situation nor the need/motivation to change it or improve it. Help the truly disadvantaged, yes. Others in line will report to a job site for your phone and your check.
My original point was that the electorate in the U.S. is already resembling that in Venezuela. That country, despite huge oil reserves, is basically bankrupt, or soon will be from continued social spending, per Hugo. Our current POTUS and his Congress are campaigning with the same drumbeat: Get More Free Stuff with Your Vote.

Fish, congrats on your free phone, and your 401K, and maybe your SS benefits, MediCare,,et,al. Pay attention now::: If BO is reelected, he is gonna' come looking for revenue to pay for all that free stuff. Your SS check, Your 401K balance, Your MediCare expenses??? All TAXABLE with the right legislation. Lame Duck POTUS, right. Careful what you think of as free; it might cost you a lot. Remember who is voting and why.

I agree with the above message from Summer Lover. Today I received a letter from "Assurance" notifying me of my elgibility for a free phone with 250 minutes of talk and 250 minutes of free texts provided I met certain requirements. My wife and I are senior citizens but we are not getting food stamps, don't have children on free lunches, and are not eligible for the other "freebies" that you must be receiving to get a free phone. Also, I agree with Summer Lover that 250 minutes are not necessary if you are only using the phone for semi-emergency situations. Ironically, I had just returned from Walmart when I opened the above mentioned letter. I had been there looking at phones because our contract with AT&T is almost up(thank goodness). The cheapest service I found for phones for my wife and I was about $95.00 a month. Needless to say "free phones" cause my already "high"  blood pressure to go even higher,

Rather than belittle those who qualify, be thankful you do not. If you have grown children who have cell phones, ask them to check with their carrier about adding you to their plan as a family member for $9.95 per month.

Mack, I agree wholeheartedly with your comments about all the "freebies"   that have "balooned" under Obama. I agree to try and help those who have a justifiable need, but to try and "encourage" people to pursue such handouts to garner their "vote" is about as unpatroitic and selfish as anyone can be. This is especially true when such handouts can result in "bankrupting" our country. It is frightening to think that we have elected officials to run our government who won't admit that borrowing 40 cents of every dollar we spend from CHINA is leading to the downfall of our "great" nation. Why do "we the people" not exercise our rights under the "Constitution" and find a way to stop our "downfall".
