I see Ala Power is releasing water from the Dam but we are not yet to the curve. I am trying to plan my boat winterization based on the curve but if they take the water down faster than the curve, it becomes difficult to decide how much time I have. I can still get boat in and out easily until below 485.5.
I can do it this weekend (10/13) or in two weeks (10/27). Can I wait till 10/27?

Past experience for me says...you never know. I have seen it drop a foot in a day and I have seen it rise like crazy during a rain event.

Rick, you've got a 4 stroke outboard. Estimate how many gallons of gas are in the tank and add the appropriate amount of stabil (this weekend). Enjoy it as long as you can (you can come get me for a ride). Put it on the lift with the trim all the way down, put the battery somewhere it won't freeze and you can keep it charged. That's all.

Rick, while you are at it make sure you check the lower unit oil as to make sure it is free of water. (just in case you have a leaking seal). Also, run the engine for a moment and spray plenty of engine fogging oil (make sure you use 4 stroke fogging oil and not two stroke fogging oil). Make sure you use plenty of "Ring Free" or Fogging oil with it already included ESPECIALLY if you have a Yamaha, or Mercury 70-95hp (or some 115hp) as they are mechanically the same and love to get sticky rings. If you don't do this you will take years off of the life of your outboard. The new 4-stroke technology is very neat, but they do like good maintanance. This post is not intended to be a smart comment, so I hope no-one takes it that way. Just shared information.

I just want to know when the lake will go down. Rick is right! Riding weather is great, and the Lake does seem to be receding rather slowly. Just sayin

All I really want to know is whether APCo will follow the curve. Seems like they are trying to stay below the curve. If they stick with the curve, then I can wait till 10/27 to winterize.
But while on the winterizing subject, I have a Honda 150. I do always change gear and engine oil and spray fogging oil in plugs holes end of each year. I also fill gas tank and run Startron/Starbrite treatment just before putting it up. I will also pull prop this year and grease shaft and check for fishing line.

it is far more "normal" for them to stay slightly below the curve, so I would plan on that. When the water is on or above the curve, it's usually the result of abnormal conditions. In the current situation (unless there is rain), the water will continue to go down slowly until it's slightly below the rule; at that point, water level will stay just below the curve and follow it down.
