What makes people think the whole slough wants to listen to their music? If you're between the old DSC and the dam, I hope you like country music, because that's all you can hear right now. Big log cabin must have some big ol' speakers, and they sure like to show them off.

Happen all, the time,, or just this weekend??  All the time,, yep, that's a problem needs a solution.

We have an exterior sound system that we use every time we are at the lake. But, we play it low, because I know how sound carries across water. Don't want to rile my neighbors with real music from the 60's and 70's, or yes, country.

However, we do have an occasional party where the music is live (from a performer) and it is louder than normal because it is outside. Once a year, maybe. Never had a neighbor complain in person,, to my face, except for the guy on the point who repeatedly zips his Waverunner within 10 feet of my floating dock. I ignored him with a LM Wave.

My point: If that happens too often, it becomes an irritant. If not, let it pass. It's just people enjoying themselves. When Mr. Scrushy was in his prime, he had some huge parties at his castle, about 2 miles away by water. Talk about loud?? But, it was not often. So, no problem.

Not "all the time," but "more often than not." One issue is that the speakers are at the house, so they blast the music so they can hear it at the dock. My house is much closer to the speakers than his dock is, and my dock just might be closer, too; whether closer or further, the difference isn't much. So when they play it loud enough to hear at the dock, it is several times louder than that at my house. Interesting that you mention outdoor parties. The house across from us has them occasionally, and the professional band with the professional sound system is not nearly as loud as my neighbor's sound system. They also always shut it down at midnight, which my neighbor sometimes does not do.

A musician friend has offered his professional sound system. If I can find some John Phillips Souza on CD, I might take him up on it!

Play classical music to them. It'll drive them crazy...

We had an issue with a young fella next door. His parents owned a home at the top of the hill, ours was much closer to the water, and we shared a drive/boat ramp combo. He and his buds would come up on weekends while rents were at the gulf, move the vehicle with the thumping subwoofer down to the waters edge and proceed to rattle the house for hours on end. One Saturday morning, I caught sight of a few cars up top, and knew none of them belonged to the parents. I started moving my equipment outside. My wife asked if I had lost my mind. I said no, taking a step to save it. Neighbors were clued in. Sure enough, 2-3 hours later, the kid and his posse start gathering at waters edge. Then, the ride with the thumper rolls down the hill. Before they could set up, I lit up the old Marantz with all 4 speakers outdoors, and played Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Jerry Vale, Mario Lanza and some of the 3 Tenors, long enough and loud enough that, amazingly, we NEVER had an issue again. As a matter of fact, that punk never came back and stayed, while we were there, unless his parents were there.
