According to Politico the recount of St Lucie County early votes, as demanded by Mr. West, has resulted in the spread between him and Mr Murphy increasing by 242 votes. Mr Murphy now leads Mr West by more than 2100 votes.
What now MM??

I am not accusing you of being a coward. I don't know you. But I can say your behavior on this forum is cowardly.
And no, I haven't read your recoomended piece yet. Was called to Charleston on business this past week, got back yesterday morning, and have been working ever since on a proposal to support worldwide US Navy security systems. I'll get to your opiece sooner or later.

i really hate to see a contest decided this way. The Democratic victory will forever be tainted just as Bush was in 2000. Based on this description of West, he will feel right at home on the Forum:

Of course he only comes along to crow. Look at how little, if any, he posted leading up to the election because he thought the Messiah was going down in flames. Like us, he underestimated the leeches in this country turning out in droves to get their so-called "free" stuff at the expense of the productive members of society....not to mention to slutty single women wanting their free contraception and the right to murder their babies if they are inconvenient.
Where's my Obamaphone!?!?!?!? I gots to git me one of dem free phones!!! If they couldn't vote it would actually be funny in a pathetic way...but alas.....they do vote, early and often, just like GF.....

Archie, Archie, Archie......if nothing else you are consistent in being wrong. I enclose a John Fund piece about the so-called recount for you so you can actually learn something...like the truth. I have no idea whether West won or lost his reelection and frankly as incompetent as the election officials are in St. Lucie County I am not sure we will ever know. But read this and learn something. And if Murphy really won one has to wonder why he is pulling out all legal stops to prevent the recount? But we already know the answer to that don't we Archie the drive by left wing nut?
The characters in the latest example of South Florida’s dysfunctional election system — recall the Bush v. Gore debacle in 2000 — are worthy of a Carl Hiaasen potboiler.
Congressman Allen West, an outspoken tea-party favorite whose district was pushed into largely new territory by redistricting, is claiming that massive voter irregularities are robbing him of his seat.
Democrat Patrick Murphy, who leads West by some 2,000 votes, is trying to stop a full recount of controversial early ballots cast in St. Lucie County. His current victory margin is just large enough to avoid triggering an automatic recall of all precincts and all votes.
Then there is Gertrude Walker, the 32-year-veteran election supervisor of St. Lucie County, who has spent much of the last two weeks explaining why her office completely botched the count. She admitted that her office had acted in “haste” in issuing election results, and that “mistakes were made.” Among her mistakes was failing to count 40 of the 94 precincts under her jurisdiction on Election Night — and then counting the other 54 twice. Indeed. On Friday, her office announced it had “discovered” 304 additional early votes left in a box. None had been counted
But Walker wasn’t available for comment. She has been hospitalized for unknown reasons.
The news was one reason that Florida’s secretary of state has dispatched a team of experts to audit St. Lucie’s procedures. The St. Lucie Election Canvassing Board voted to approve a complete recount of all the early ballots. It began the recount on Saturday but stopped it at 8 p.m. because the county building’s security system was set to be switched on later that night. Some people complained that the alarms have been switched off in the past to allow county business to continue after hours, but their complaints were ignored. The recount resumed on Sunday morning, but it missed the noon deadline to submit the county’s final returns to Florida’s secretary of state.
So, on Sunday, the previous results—the ones showing Democrat Murphy ahead—were sent to Florida’s secretary of state for certification.
Walker has a history of abetting or ignoring sloppy election procedures. In 2003, a state-appointed task force of six election experts found that Mariam Oliphant, the then–Supervisor of Elections in Broward County, was incapable of running her office and counting votes correctly. Among other problems, she had hired a homeless man who refused to count certain ballots.
The task force recommended removing Oliphant from office. The only dissenter was Gertrude Walker, even though local NAACP chapters had urged Oliphant, who like Walker is African American, to step down from her position for reasons of incompetence.
In her own county, Walker dragged her feet at implementing any efforts to remove dead voters, felons, or non-citizens from the voter rolls. “We’re being very deliberative about it,” Walker told the Palm Beach Post in 2004. “We want to make sure we don’t disenfranchise anyone or even notify someone they are a possible felon unless we have confirmation of it.” Earlier this year, Walker delayed sending out letters to non-citizens telling them they should clarify their status or risk being removed from the voter rolls. Even though the list had been developed by the Florida Department of State using federal data, Walker said she didn’t trust the validity of the information.
Representative West insists he will seek a full recount in the race, saying confidence in the integrity of the election has been shattered. His legal options may be limited because of the slow-walking maneuvers of the St. Lucie election officials, but here’s hoping a court steps in and requires corrective action. Florida can’t afford another cloud over its election procedures, and the only way to prevent another counting disaster in the future is to have a full accounting and thorough audit of this year’s election.

Sounds like the race card at work. The Right says 92% of blacks voted for Obama because of race. The Supervisor of Elections is black and West is black. Your race card is confusing. The Supervisor has to support her fellow black West. Could it be that West lost? You are coming across like Romney...sour grapes and no logic.

Once again, why are left wing nuts so fixated on race? Its pretty much the prism through which you see everything isn't it?
I don't know the woman's race and I don't care. It seems to me that there are enough questions about the validity of the vote in that particular county to justify a full recount. If West lost, he lost. But no one even knows given the incompetence of that election office. She could be white, black, yellow or green and regardless of which she seems to me incompetent and the results of the election seriously in question.

And if you'd listen to what Allen West has to say you will see that he s a very well-read man who puts current events into historical perspective and speaks common sense.
And he doesn't think much of the race-baiting whiners because he startede out with little himself, yet made something of himself through initiative and hard work. Anything wrong with that GF????

I focused my comments on the incompetence and totally ignored the race issue. You oh so predictably focused exclusively on the race issue and of course totally ignored the incompetence. That is a very common attribute of left wing nuts....you always fixate on race, gender, sexual preference, sexual identity and so on. I focus on the content of a person's character regardless of all of the above.

Does anyone know why West would concede and not just allow the count to become offical if he doesn't agree with the process or count? I would not concede if I were in his position even though the final count stated I lost. Is conceding just the "nice" thing to do?
The crow may yet fly before the day is over but this turkey is in hiding until Friday.

Actually am not sure. My guess is he thinks he would not win but he may also be cutting his legal costs by not challenging further. Either way it's over and he is out. Do wonder why the GOP redrew his district the way they did. Read some pieces that indicated they thought it was a Republican year and thought they could turn one safe GOP seat into two. Best laid plans....
